Summary: I read this book some time ago. Is it being re-released?
Review: Although I usually prefer historical romance, this contemporary love story is among my favorite books. I lent my copy, as I do all my favorite books, to a girlfriend and haven't seen it since. I have been trying to locate another copy, and was very surprised to see that it hasn't been published yet. The Love's Choices, (by Penny Jordan) I read, so many moons ago, involved a young lady raised in a private school/convent who is abducted by a business associate of her father's. After the usual struggles common to most romance novels,(you know the part we read them for) she ends up alone in the Silicon Valley or Wine Country with his child. Could anyone confirm that this is the story line of this soon to be released novel and if it will be available in Canada? Sherri

Summary: THIS IS A HORRIBLE BOOK!
Review: If only I could give this book ZERO stars! Listen, I don't ever throw a book away. I give them to libraries, etc. if I don't like them or can't keep them...but this book was thrown into the garbage can with all speed.

I've read & enjoyed Penny Jordan before, but this novel is really, really awful. She fell flat on her face with this one.

The hero, despite all his handsomeness, suave manners, & money, is nothing but a rapist, pure & simple. First, he KIDNAPS the heroine, who is completely innocent & convent-bred (and a jerk, but more about that later), because his sister was the mistress of the heroine's father & committed suicide when the heroine's father wouldn't marry her. "Alexei" doesn't seduce the heroine, (despite what Jordan would want us to believe), he just takes her to his big country estate and he RAPES her. And despite Jordan's trying very, very hard to gloss this over with her heroine's half-felt "attraction" to the hero, it comes down to this: it's a rape, because she's completely inexperienced and he isn't, and then he takes her AGAINST HER WILL. AND THE HEROINE NEVER LIFTS A HAND TO HIM! SHE JUST LETS HIM DO IT! And I just could not get over that. No amount of sugar-coating the hero's rationale for his behavior, by the author, can overcome that fact! And making her heroine SO wimpy as to just let it happen...and to feel ATTRACTED to this man? NEVER a fight against him (well, he bought her pretty clothes, after all, and it took place in a nice soft bed in a rich country house, after all)...God, it was just disgusting.

So this book made the garbage bin, because I didn't think it should be read by anyone else. I think I would have burned it if I could have. It's really repulsive & creepy that a "romance" novel could sink to these lows. I really hate this book! It's awful books like this one that give romance novels a bad name.
