Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good premise, lacks depth.
Review: The essential flaw of the story is that it was perhap intended to be too perfect and romantic a romance novel. The premise of war-torn Vietnam is a rich setting for wonderful drama, and the author does indeed try to capitalize on that. However, her characters lack little development beyong backgrounds that can be described in epithets as "tough black nurse" or "rich daddy's little girl" or "solider from midwest". The personalities are likable however lacks adequate emotional and intellectual depth. The characters, although enjoyable, but rather flat. Overall, although the book offers a glimpse into worn-torn Vietnam, it does not depart from the ordinary happily-ever-after romance.
