Rating: Summary: A fine story that is simple and fascinating. Nice job Review: Micleric Publishing is a brand new small press publisher, and Intrigue of Gateway Island is their second endeavor. Welcome aboard! P.S. Elsner is a Daytona Beach, Florida resident and is the author of the Nick Dallas-P.I. books. Elsner is a member of Sisters in Crime.Amy Madigan lost her mother at an early age, but had a dream relationship with her exciting and loving archaeologist father. Benjamin Madigan wants to take Amy on the ultimate "lost city" trip to uncover a place he has been researching, but dies suddenly of a heart attack. Or was it. Dr. Madigan had taken on two research assistants who were not all they purported to be, and when Amy decides to take up the gauntlet and discover the lost city herself as a tribute to her father, she doesn't bank on the fact that the two crooks are on her tail: "Once outside, Harry looked over at James and said, 'You know what they say, you have to spend some money to get some. I'd say we're gonna get a LOT of money. Right?' Harry and James then started laughing as they made their way back down the crowded street of San Rafael." Of course Amy runs into a new love on the cruise ship on the way down to San Rafael, and they have the expected spat, which adds to the tension. John is a construction company owner and a self-made man looking for a woman who won't be a parasite. He sets his sites on Amy, and they go off together looking for the lost city and meet interesting locals on the way. P.S. Elsner conjures up a simple yet compelling plot much in the style of Mary Higgins Clark. Her characters are fun to read about, and are either of the romantic vein or the Dallas type of treacherous villains, so it is easy to follow the action. The locales are exotic, the action is placed in all the right places, and the denouement is right out of Hollywood. All in all, Intrigue of Gateway Island is a fine story that is simple and fascinating. Nice job. Shelley Glodowski Reviewer
