Rating: Summary: pleasant tale Review: Honor Mayfield thought she was being rescued from a nasty man blackmailing her younger sister. Instead she was going from a nasty man's clutches to the clutches of a dangerous man. Con Landry was the man on the spot, helping her free her sister from the blackmailer, but what Honor did not know, Conn was running a more sinister game. One of revenge, and the key to the mystery is the race horse his father and her father owned as partners.A very enjoyable tale that has been reprinted more than once.

Rating: Summary: too predictable Review: I'm big fan of her books. But I didn't enjoy this particular book. The plot was too predictable. Characters too unbelievable. A woman sleeps with a man and become involved with him that she didn't even know what he does for a living Cmon. and by the end of the novel you still don't know what he does and she states it doesn't matter. Be for real.
Rating: Summary: It was okay Review: It was a good book but not the usual pazaz that Jayne Ann Krentz has, I liked the horse world information so that was fun! I would buy it again, specially from Amazon!
Rating: Summary: Not bad but not her best Review: This 250-page story started out with a lot of potential, but fizzled about 2/3 of the way into the book. It would have been great if Krentz had written the murder-mystery angle a bit better. Instead, what the reader gets is another of her Scooby Doo storylines that makes you roll your eyes. What do I mean by Scooby Doo? Think back to when you were a kid watching that cartoon. Every show was a mystery of some sort and at the end of it the villain would spill all of his evil plans to dominate the world while holding "the gang" hostage. Krentz does the same thing. I mean, how many criminals are really going to take the time to detail the how and the why of their crimes to the victims? And how many victims will care to drag the story out of their captors while at gunpoint? Most victims would be more interested in survival than in assauging their curiosity. Another aspect of the book that became a major annoyance after awhile was her overuse of exclamation points. Practically every other sentence ended with an exclaimer. It got to be too much. It had the same affect as writing in all caps. No Krentz book is "bad" per se, but this is one of her less noble efforts. I'd save this book for when you are down to the nitty gritty and have absolutely nothing else left of hers to read.
Rating: Summary: Charming and not predictable Review: This book has a charming storyline: love, murder, theft, and revenge in the horse racing world. (Fortunately, it doesn't go so far into educating the reader about horse racing that you get Racing 101) The revenge is plausible without becoming trite, and the love that develops between the main characters is romantic but not maudlin. The bad guy lures the reader in and while you realize who he is, it takes the the whole story to explain why. For me, it is a big plus when the character have dimensions that aren't completely revealed. A sweet love story with a good who-done-it, perfect for summer reading.
