Summary: Excellent romantic intrigue sea cruise
Review:

When her spouse dies, Adriana Falcone takes over running the family's cruise ship business. However, the "Queen of the Seas" quickly learns that the waters are filled with pirates, cutthroats, and piranhas, who turn out to be the friendlier folks. She also shockingly realizes that her company is in deep financial trouble. Desperate to keep the firm afloat, Adriana turns to rival Thorne Weston, CEO of Blue Ribbon Cruises, for help.

Thorne agrees to assist his competitor though Adriana cannot fathom why. As they work together, they begin to fall in love with one another. However, someone is trying to eliminate Adriana even if it means killing her. Not sure who is friend and who is foe, Adriana even doubts the intentions of the man she now loves.

PORTS OF CALL is a well-written romantic intrigue that takes readers on an intriguing sea cruise. The story line is exciting, but the lead protagonists make this novel hum. Adriana is a warm and witty person while her beloved is a constant thorn in her side. After this tale, readers will visit their bookstores in search of other works by Sally Fairchild.

Summary: A disappointment
Review: A long ago death holds the key to the rivalry between the heads of two cruiseline companies.

Known as the 'Queen of the Seas' Adriana Falcone has taken over the company from her late husband after he is kidnapped and brutally murdered. She is determined to make her late husband's dream come true. Thorne Weston is just as determined to stop her.

The rivalry turns to attraction as the two are forced to work together and become reluctant partners. But somebody is trying to kill Adriana and Thorne has many secrets of his own.

Ports of Call was a interesting book and quick read but with not much substance. I found myself wishing the end would come and found the romance between Adriana and Thorne to be second rate and uneventful. I recommend the reader pass on this book.

Summary: Delightful!
Review: I enjoyed this book very much -- the characters, the romance, the touch of intrigue, the incredible setting. It's one of those put-up-your-feet and enjoy stories. I'll be looking for the next Sally Fairchild book!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Sally Fairchild has written a wonderful, suspenseful story of romance on the high seas. Its the story of two strong willed rivals, who come together out of necessity and find love.

I read the book in one sitting. I could not put it down. I know after reading you will agree.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The exotic setting of this book, Italy, South Florida and the cruise ship industry was fascinating! The intense rivalry was very intriguing, as was the suspenseful mystery surrounding both main characters. These are the qualities that make the book worth reading.

However, I had trouble warming-up to either of the two main characters. They weren't likable people at all, and I wasn't drawn to care about them. A romance between these angry people wasn't really believable, and I had a problem reconciling in my mind that these two belonged together and were meant to be married in the end. This story was more about the thrill of the chase and the conquest. Although the sexual attraction was clearly powerful, lasting relationships depend upon respect, love, compatibility and caring. These characters didn't have what it takes to last beyone the conquest stage...

Now, the evolution of the romance between the likable secondary characters, Luke and Nevada, was much more believeable. These characters aroused my empathy and compassion.

Summary: Dull
Review: This book is silly AND dull - avoid it if you want a good and entertaining story. I threw it away.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointing
Review: This book started off very well. I enjoyed the rivalry between the two protagonists and looked forward to seeing Thorne's defences crumble as he falls under the spell of Adriana.

Unfortunately, I was not to be rewarded in that respect. As the book progresses, there are moments where you begin to wonder whether or not Adriana and Thorne are meant to be together, which makes the rather rushed finale even harder to believe. I am usually willing to suspend belief to some extent when reading a romance, but there has to be an element of believability for me to immerse myself in the story. The final scenes aboard the yacht were laughable and the writing dwindled to amateurish standards. I was denied a satisfying ending, which is a requirement in any good romance.

Won't be reading other books by this author.
