Summary: I LOVED THE HERO BUT NOT THE HEROINE.
Review: I absolutely fell in love with the hero, or should I say the outlaw, of the story. Texas Sharpe, though an outlaw, is an admirable man. He has honor, loyalty, and a great love for his wife, Lily. It broke my heart when he realized that Lily had betrayed him nearly causing his death. I understand Lily's anger toward the Sharpe gang. When she was only 12 yrs. old, her parents were killed by the gang. She was then "adopted" by them, taught to be an outlaw herself. Before her mother died in her arms, Lily promised her that she would do anything to survive. She did. But what I couldn't understand, was her coldness towards Texas, her husband. She even shot at him for God's sake! All throughout the story, we see Texas struggle with his emotions. Little by little, he's dying inside....Aside from my distaste of the "heroine", the story was a good one. I do recommend it.

Summary: I DIDN'T LIKE THIS BOOK. . ., BUT
Review: I didn't like this book. I guess that's why I read it all in one night, cried, laughed and rated it 4 STARS. Go figure. This was my first book by Ms. Chance and it won't be my last. FALL FROM GRACE was definitely NOT your typical romance western. It was a gritty, hard, interesting story with gritty, hard and interesting characters. No easy choices here. No glamor. No pat, happy ending. What you do have is a good story.

Summary: Best book of 1997!
Review: I picked up this book on a road trip around Colorado and spent a good portion of the trip with my face buried in the pages, and not taking in the stunning scenery. I LOVED this book, loved the chances Ms. Chance took with the characters, loved how she made me care about them, despite some pretty dubious backgrounds. The whole relationship between Lily and Tex was handled with such subtlety and restraint that the tension--emotional and otherwise--made me squirm. I loved that Lily was strong and tough when she needed to be, and that Tex loved that part of her--when he finally got to know the 'real' Lily, the lady beneath what she'd become. This is 'the' book I hand to romance detractors, male and female, and say 'I dare you to learn otherwise'. Everyone I've given it to has been pleasantly surprised, including a male friend who stayed up until 2 in the morning because he 'had to know how it ended'. Thanks, Ms Chance, for taking risks and making me care!

Summary: Enjoyable Reading
Review: I'm a recent convert to Megan Chance' novels. Megan's stories are always well-written, the characters well-drawn out and blistering human.  "Fall from Grace" was no exception, however, the two romantic leads were less appealing than the characters from her other novels, which was disappointing.

Fall from Grace is the story of "Lily" AKA "Lily the Cat." Lily's parents are killed by the Sharpe gang, and so in an act of kindness (?) , they adopt her. This turns out to be two-edged sword, for while Lily shapes up to be a competent outlaw, she hungers for revenge... And succeeds in getting it when she turns 23.....She betrays the gang to the local sheriff.

Tex Sharpe, Lily's husband isn't willing to give up on Lily. He pursues her, and convinces her to return to the gang. Lily agrees... But then tries to shoot him! What follows is a tale of betrayal, love, and reconciliation.

Lily's Mae West style 'bad girl' character was refreshing for this genre. She's an outlaw, a killer, and unrepentant. Her husband Tex, is good-hearted, but kind of naive which I found annoying.. Unfortunately, these characters just didn't mesh well. Lily resented Tex throughout the book. Tex misunderstands her, worries about her, and loves her for no discernable reason since all Lily does is belittle him. Even towards the end, these characters never really come to an understanding, which was unsatisfying.

Overall, I liked the book, it was realistic. But I admit, I got tired of the constant fighting between Sharpe and Lily. This couple was a romantic failure, at least for this reader. Ohwell. Perhaps there will be a sequel?

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Megan Chance has done it again with another incredible story. Texas and Lily were wonderfully original characters, and the story very well written. I didn't want it to end.

Summary: Good story but where is the romance??
Review: This book disappointed me - although Lily and Texas are well-written characters they failed to evoke any real sense of romance for me. The realism of the story left me longing for some "spark" between the two that never really happened. For me, this story is big on Western and Historical and short on Romance.

Summary: Good Read Bad Ending
Review: This is the first book I have read from Megan Chance and I had to say I did like the story line of this book, but I could not understand the ending of this book. I think that more should had been said in order to make it more of a better ending; other then that I enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading other books by Megan Chance.

Summary: Enjoyable Reading
Review: This is the first Megan Chance book that I read and I found it to be well written. It is a sad story of a little girl forced to become an outlaw because she was made part of the gang after the outlaws killed her parents. Her hero, Texas is wonderful...
