Summary: With Just One Glance She Knew He Was Irresistible
Review: Mariel Browning has been away from her home country of New Zealand for ten years and she doesn't plan on ever going back, because she has a secret past she'd just as soon forget. She is fluent in several languages, lives in New York and works as a freelance interpreter.

She has accepted a job translating Japanese at the Bride's Bay Resort on an island off of South Carolina. However she didn't realize she'd be translating for diplomats and politicians from New Zealand, so she is on edge, almost wishing she could get out of the job.

Then in the hotel bar she crosses eyes with Nicholas Leigh, a wealthy Kiwi who is a member of the New Zealand delegation. Mariel tries to resist. She's afraid Nicholas will find out about her past. Can she put the thought of him, the idea of him aside and do her job? Can Nicholas, who is attracted to her, do likewise?

This excellent story drips suspense slowly, keeping the reader interested throughout. Just what is Mariel's secret? Will Nicholas find it out? Plus Ms. Donald gives us some tense moments, for example when Nicholas has to face down a man a gun. We see that he is not the kind of man who backs down. Yes, he is a man who is sure of himself, but he is not overbearing, he apologizes when he makes a mistake. I liked Nicholas. I liked Mariel and I really, really liked this book.
