Summary: the power of belief from a gifted author
Review: Author Maggie Daniels is better known as Katherine Deauxville or Maggie Davis. With dozens of marvelous books, time and again, Davis has demonstrated her gift with writing books that are unforgettable. From sassy 'Glitz and Glamour" tales such as "Hustle, Sweet Love" to the brilliant series of medieval stories "Blood Red Roses", "Golden Daggers", "Crystal Heart" and "Amethyst Crown" to her currently stroll down memory lane with the amazing "Stage Door Canteen", you find Davis weaves magic no matter which of her names is on the cover.

As in her wonderful "Moonlight and Mistletoe", Davis again gives us a tale of a simple country lass, in this case Julia Stonecypher, and the power of Christmas magic. Poor Julia's way of life is threatened and she sees no hope. Her husband died nearly two years ago in a drunken motorcycle accident, and since he was at fault, it fell to Julia to see the claim was paid. She had, but it has put her in a bad situation, falling behind with payment to the bank. To make matters even more desperate, she loses her job. So two days before Christmas, she was busy baking a special, family-recipe cake to sell to raise money for her kids' Christmas presents.

When handsome, Gregory Harding pulled up in the drive the snowy day before Christmas, it was to serve an eviction notice. Julia was ready to cry. After arrogantly serving her with the notice, he turns his car around and proceeds to leave. Not being careful in the snow, he ends up crashing it. Julia's forced to take him in to care for him, just as the worst blizzard in 25 years hits.

When Greg wakes up, he finds two kids staring at him. From the minute, three-year-old Emily Rose declares him "Daddy", his life is never going to be the same.

It's a tender tale of the power of belief, in clinging to the traditions of generations of a family, of preserving the past while bravely facing the future.

It was turned into a movie with Olivia Newton-John, but I don't think anything can compare to the beautiful prose of Davis.

Summary: those who remember the CBS TV movie with Olivia Newton-John
Review: I am so pleased that many, many readers have searched for this book, which was made into a top-rated CBS TV Sunday night movie with Olvia Newton-John and Gregory Harrison in 1994. The publisher has not brought out a third reprinting, but I am sure Amazon will be alert to any used copies on the market. Hope you like it! Many readers say it is one of their all-time favorites!

Summary: The Movie is Good but this Book is Better!
Review: I bought A Christmas Romance by Maggie Daniels from a used book store and I thought it was a very good book. Julia Stonecypher is a widow with two young daughters who is trying to keep on to the farm and house that has belonged in her late husband's family for generations but she is having a hard time keeping up with the morgage payments and all of the bills since having to pay the insurance claim in her husband's accident and getting laid off from her job and when the bank sends Gregory Harding out to her place with an eviction notice a blizard hits and he winds up crashing his car on Julia's property and gets stranded with them. I like everything about the book, including the part where the electricity goes out in Julia's house and she has to cook Christmas dinner the old fashioned way in a fireplace and I thought it was neat how she roasted the turkey over the flames. I just recently watched the Olivia Newton-John, Gregory Harrison movie that they made based on this book. I think it was originally shown on one of the network channels like CBS but I saw it rerun on Lifetime TV and it was pretty good though not as good as the book and they made a couple of changes like they changed Gregory's name to Brian and they left out the part where Julia roasted the turkey in the fireplace though they did show her cooking soup or stew in the fireplace. Anyway I highly recommend this book which is a keeper and I recommend watching the movie at least once. I actually recorded the movie onto DVD with my DVD recorder for my Christmas DVD collection because the movie isn't available professionally made on DVD or video.

Summary: Wonderful, Charming Christmas romance book!
Review: Written by Maggie Daniels who is sometimes credited as Maggie Davis this is a wonderful Christmas romance book that I really loved reading and could not put it down, it is about Julia Stonecypher a widow with two young daughters, she loses her job and they are danger of being evicted from their home by an arrogant bank officer named Gregory Harding but he has an accident and winds up getting snowed in at their house and than the story gets very good and interesting and is a really heartwarming story. It was made into a made for television Christmas movie starring Olivia Newton-John and Grgory Harrison, I taped it when it was shown on TV but haven't watched it yet so I can't say if the movie was good or not but the book was great and probably one of the most charming Christmas romance books I have ever read, It's a shame that it's out of print!
