Rating: Summary: Don't read this book-- Review: --in public! You'll embarrass yourself by laughing out loud. This is the funniest chicklit book I've ever read. It sneaks up on you, you're reading along, having a nice time, and suddenly you burst out laughing. This is nothing but pure pleasure. If you want a serious book, don't buy this! If you want angst and tragic romance, forget it. But if you want a silly, outrageous, incredibly funny romp, you MUST read this book! It's fast, it's funny, and it's fabulous.
Rating: Summary: good time for chick lit fans Review: After her boy friend of six years Louis Ferris ended their engagement once he left the hospital and healed from her latest overzealousness, Elle Medina decides to leave the DC area so she can start over. As she does with everything, the vivacious Elle does not just move an hour away to say Baltimore, but instead crosses the country to Santa Barbara. In Southern California, Elle seeks employment, but has no idea what she is qualified to perform having no employment history so as she has done all her life Elle dives in head first to test the waters. Of course, her requirement in a job is to allow her to move off the couch of her friend Maya and away from Perfect brad, Maya's boyfriend. She finds no trouble getting work, but keeping a job proves difficult, as things seem to happen when Elle is around. The only thing more complex then staying employed is the men in her life who seem more like sharks, even the underage one, but who will she choose. Elle seems like a modern day Louisa Costello. Readers will laugh at her slapstick employment history (Mr. Bush will be pleased he does not have to count her as unemployed) and her wacky love life will bring much amusement to readers. Though the plot lacks a serious center, Elle makes for quite a good time for chick lit fans as her zaniness take Santa Barbara by storm. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Very irritating heroine, slightly redeemed at the end Review: As someone else said, the heroine in this book is incredibly irritating. I wanted to smack some sense into her for the majority of the book. The last 30 pages or so were much better, but the book can't be redeemed by that. I'm just glad that I didn't pay for this one.
Rating: Summary: Totally laugh out loud funny Review: Contrary to another reviewer's statements, I found the first 2/3 of this book to be side splitting, laugh out loud funny, and only slightly lost interest when Elle went from being outrageous to being, well, ordinary. The condom-balloon fight with her elderly landlord, the sewage mishap, and the Miss Cleo connection were hilariously funny. Elle finds herself in one disaster after another yet she always keeps her sense of humor. Lee Nichols created a character with a great spirit, for whom you root despite her impulsive, unbelievable behavior. I can't wait for her next novel.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK FOR GIRLS! * Courtney B * Miller Place, NY Review: Elle Medina is definitely a drama queen. Not only is she out of a job, money, and a place to live, her ex-fiance Louis wasted no time on his 5 day trip to Iowa; he met and married another woman! Elle is left with 5,000 dollars and needs to get her life back together!!
She moves into a trailer, "No, it's a trolley!" she exclaims. She tries her hand at undercover shopping (basically catching shoplifters) but loses her job when she decides to lecture them instead. Then she meets Joshua, who she will come to think is the love of her life. Is he really this wonderful, or too good to be true?
She also meets Merrick (actually, Louis, but she can't stand the name anymore) and this is where the Bridget Jones antics begin! The first time they meet she thinks she is making Cosmopolitans, but somehow adds brandy, the second meet (first date) condoms fly out of her purse and into his hands.(She was using them as water balloons to get back at her landlord's grandson) The third time they meet... well, you get the picture. Can this girl ever win?
This book had me going for two days. Elle Medina is the most wonderful anti-heroine! Humorous, excellent writing, and full of DRAMA! What more could a girl want?
Rating: Summary: Just ok Review: I checked this book out from the library thinking it would be an amusing read. In the beginning it was and somewhere in the middle, I began thinking it sounds familiar to the Shopaholic series. It was ok. I didn't laugh out loud. The character didn't annoy me, however her best friend did. I didn't think the other characters were developed enough. At times I would forget they were a part of the story. Somehow I managed to finish it and thought it wrapped itself up neatly at the end. Definitely not my favorite from the Red Dress Ink line.
Rating: Summary: HYSTERICAL!!! :) Review: I don't think I've ever read a more funny book! The main character is so much like all women that I think every woman should read it! I called all of my friends and read pages of the book out loud to them.
PLEASE READ! :)
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down... Review: I picked this book up at an airport, and read and read way after the flight landed. I embarrassed myself on the plane by laughing out loud. As an avid reader of chiclit, I was sure it would be another "good escapeist fluff" book, but was pleasantly suprised at how hilarious it was. Read it - you won't be sorry!!!
Rating: Summary: Tales of a Drama Queen Review: The end of her relationship ends life as she knows it for Elle Medina. Pulling up stakes, she moves, searches for a new job, and maybe a new love. The problem is she is not capable of anything constructive, it seems. Her friends are sick of her, her new boyfriend is not much of an improvement on the old, and the only who really want to see her are the people she owes money to.
* Skewering reality with a painful accuracy, the novel misses the mark of being escapism, but lacks enough depth to stick in one's mind long enough for that to be a concern. *

Rating: Summary: Not so bad after all...VERY suitable for young girls. Review: This Book is worth its money.
Although some people thinks the main character and the rest of the book is boring and irritating, I think Elle medina's (the main character) life is very interesting and I wouldn't be surprised if this story actually was real.
HILARIOUS.
Elle medina is real fun to listen at, I love her cool way of talking and her neologisms (BIG WORD, for kids, this means new juvenile words).
Elle Medina is a wacky, daft woman who has just been left by his boy friend.
Practically the way the book starts is the way it ends.
Elle medina is too daft and "unqualified" to have a permanent job or boyfriends; the only things she can do are being maintained and spend money.
As soon as her boyfriend, Louis, dumps her, for an Iowan floozy girl, Elle finds herself alone in a trolley with no one to help her.
This book talks about how Elle tries to accomplish her goals (have a boyfriend, have a job, have a dog etc...) and how she always messes things up.
Will her dreams ever come true...BUY IT! And you'll know.
