Summary: loved this book
Review: ....I love Diana Palmer's style and I decided to give the book a try... . I loved it and really enjoyed the characters. I like the values that the women have in her books. There are some authors who female characters are so [cheap] now that I can't even relate or read them anymore. My favorite thing about Diana Palmer is that her characters have real emotions and aren't perfect and they find love anyway sort of like real life in that respect.

Summary: TRADEMARK DIANA PALMER!
Review: Diana Palmer has long been a favorite author of mine ever since the 80's. You might be familiar with the excellent "Long, Tall Texans" and "Soldiers of Fortune" series. Jacobsville, Texas; is a fictional town that links many of her books together. The Lord of the Desert is loosely connected though more a continuation from two of her early books...Paper Roses and Once in Paris. This book is Trademark Diana Palmer.. alpha male heros ...tall dark and dangerous. Since of the early classic "The Sheik", the desert story has been part of the romance readers' experience. Bring it up to the 21st century and you have Phillippe and Gretchen's story. It would have been nice to see more of the mystique to offset the predictable storyline. Certainly a subtle approach in exposing the developing characters would have added an edge. As it was, much was revealed in the early chapters. What saves this book from being just the standard is TALENT. Diana Palmer has the ability to capture our hearts. Her gently flawed characters are never to far from real.... Real enough for us to care. Add to that her amazing skill in writing ...truly sensual love scenes! Faithful fans will be well pleased this latest Palmer. If you are new to Diana Palmner. this would be a great start. (Be forwarned that you may want to search her backlist )

Summary: Another Great One
Review: For anyone who like her work, this is a must read. I found that I had a hard time putting this one down. The rich imagery and attention to detail makes this one of her best.

Summary: My first Diana Palmer book, but definitely not my last!
Review: Gretchen Brannon was a small-town Texan who had lived a very sheltered, protected life. She had never done anything adventurous in her life - until she took a vacation to Morocco with her best friend Maggie, who is going to be the personal assistant of the ruling sheikh of Qawi. Maggie is called away unexpectedly, and insists that Gretchen take her place as the sheikh's personal assistant. Gretchen agrees, but before she goes to Qawi she intends to enjoy her vacation in Morocco. While at the hotel, she meets a charming man who goes by the name of Philippe. She finds herself falling for him, but little does she know that Philippe is her new boss!

Philippe knew right away that Gretchen wasn't Maggie, but he found himself completely charmed by Gretchen. He hired Maggie to play the part of his lover because he must appear powerful and virile even though he hasn't been a "true man" since a landmine accident nine years ago. As his feelings for Gretchen mature, even though he knows he can never have a "true" marriage or children, he finds himself offering her marriage so her reputation won't be sullied. His enemy, however, is shadowing Sheikh Philippe and he knows Gretchen won't be safe as long as she is by his side.

This book was really good, so good that I couldn't bear to put it down! Every time I was going to put the book away and do something else (like study for one of my college exams!), I promised myself that I would read "only one more chapter," and before I knew it I had finished the book. I was absolutely fascinated by the characters and the setting! Philippe, although he could be high-handed at times, was an incredible hero who made my mouth water :) After finishing the book, I really wanted to start all over from the beginning!

The only reason I gave this book four stars instead of five was Philippe's treatment of Gretchen once Brianne, his former flame, came into the picture. Quite frankly, he was a jerk, but he more than made up for it in the end :) The book was a captivating piece of escapist literature. If you want to relax for a few hours and escape from reality, this is an excellent way to do it.

Summary: Great Book, one of Diana Palmer's best Romances
Review: I have truly enjoyed Lord of the Desert, the story is captivating. I first read about Philippe Sabon (the Sheik) in Once in Paris and I became curious about his story. Gretchen and Philippe Sabon also appear briefly in Texas Ranger (Marc Brannon's story) as a married couple. Gretchen Brannon is a great heroine, couragous and with a big heart. And the love she has for Philippe Sabon is so powerful that makes dreams come true! Definitely a keeper!

Summary: Girl got it goin' on!
Review: I read this book in one day. It was so good that I couldn't put it down. The romance was there all the way. You had the handsome sheikh and the lovable texas girl. Diana Palmer will definitely be added to my list of good authors. If you want to read about a woman that knows how to handle herself in a dangerous situation, get this book. The women in this book got it made, the men just don't know it yet.

Summary: evil-arch-nemesis-turned-hero
Review: in Palmer's book Once in Paris (one of my favorites) Brianne is kidnapped by her stepfather's partner in crime, Sheikh Phillipe Sabon. But it turns out that poor Phillipe has had a hard life, is only trying to protect his people, and can never...love a woman. Enter Gretchen, a repressed Texan legal assistant who takes her friend's job as a personal assistant to the Sheikh of Qawi when that friend has to rush home unexpectedly. While vacationing in the middle east before traveling to Qawi, she meets a businessman named-you guessed it-Phillipe Sabon. Gretchen falls in love, and Phillipe is charmed by her but wary because he knows he could never do exactly what he wants to do-marry her and have children. They marry anyway-don't they always?-and Gretchen is kidnapped by Kurt, who has escaped from a Russian jail. Phillipe saves her, falls in love with her, and discovers that all kinds of miracles can happen.

Summary: Philip and Gretchen Perfect for each other
Review: Lord Of the Desert is a book that I highly recommend to fans of diana Palmer books and also those that may have not read her books. Philip and Gretchen are great characters because she made Gretchen strong, she was willing to stand up for what she thought was good and willing to fight and support Philip because she loved him. Gretchen speaks her mind and isn't afraid that it will shock people. This was great for Philip because he finally found his match. Someone who didn't care about any physical defects he might have and this helped Philip with some residual emotional problems stemming what happened to him nine years previous. Also if you've read the Once In Paris & Paper Rose, Diana Palmer updates you on those characters as well. I HIGHLY recommend this book. It's worth the read.

Summary: Standard Diana Palmer.....
Review: Recent Diana Palmer books seem to follow a checklist (and this is a re-issue):
1. Heroine/Hero HAS to be from Jacobsville, Texas (a geographically questionable place that seems to be close to both San Antonio and Houston)
2. Have to mention the mercenaries and ex-mercenaries that reside in Jacobsville.
3. Heroine has to be "untouched" or have had a relationship that ended badly (this one has both!)
4. Hero must be an Alpha male that treats the heroine poorly, or uses her for his own purposes (again, this has both).
5. Normally mentions archaeolgy, science fiction movies, and the hero's large feet and cigarette smoking.
I could go on and on. But this one has somethingg most Diana Palmer books don't, a completely ludicrous made up Middle Eastern country. I don't expect much accuracy from romance novel depictions of the Middle East, but most authors at least do more than cursory research in to the language and culture. Many of the errors could have been caught by a mediocre editorial effort (these errors have been mentioned in other reviews). And the use of an "Arabic-Lite" language reminded me of the worst offenses of the Indian romance writers of the
1980s. And to have people refering to Gretchen as "Lady FIL-fil" is ridiculous. Filfil is the Arabic word for pepper-but the accent is usually on the second syllable, or each is equally stressed. I still haven't managed to figure out the significance of the sha-KOOSH (and why it's spelled that way, like U.N.C.L.E.) other than to be some humourously titled bodyguard.

Summary: Yuck
Review: this book is one of the greatest books by Daina Palmer I have ever read. It is about a woman that has never really left her home town and a man who is the lord and commander of the a contry. They have to face a lot of challenges to find love and understanding. Which is how most normal relatonships are like. I also like the Soldiers of Fortune books. If you know the name of the book with Cord's story please e-mail me at earthangel3200@hotmail.com. I hope this helps you.
