Summary: A Love That Transcends Time
Review: Across Culloden Moor, Kate MacGillvray found herself face to face with the man of her fantasies, her past, her present, and her future. Or was he simply the end of the nervous breakdown she was surely having? Her heart knew this man as surely as she knew her own name, but how? This was her first visit to Scotland.

Running from her present and a man she didn't want in her future, Kate decided to visit the homeland of her ancestors and clear her head and her heart. She needed time and space to come to terms with the loss she had witnessed.

Alec Lachlan swept Kate off her feet, making her ache for a man in ways her ex-fiance never had. But, Alec had informed her that, after his failed relationship with his female physician fiancee, he would never fall in love again and he would surely never marry. And he would run from another female physician. Kate knew she had to tell Alec the truth about who - and what - she was, but the timing simply wasn't right.

When the truth is revealed, though, it threatens to completely destroy the relationship that Alec and Kate had forged. With all she loves lost, Kate faces the past, the present, and goes back to Scotland for one last chance at the future with Alec.

"A Case of Nerves" is pure Scottish magic from cover to cover and will make you believe in a love so strong it truly transcends centuries.

Summary: great summer reading
Review: For me, here is nothing more enjoyable than a book which successfully interweaves romance, humor and a touch of historical mystery. This book has it all! It absorbed me right from the beginning, and made me laugh out loud many times. I thought the historical aspects of the romance gave the book a depth that isn't often achieved by first-time novelists. The plot was unusual and well-written. Kudos to Angie Kay. I can't wait for her next one!!!

Summary: I was surprised at the depth of this romance novel.
Review: Starting into Angie Kay's "A Case of Nerves" was like stepping into the Brigadoon she utilizes for the story line..When Kate finds her heart's desire among the memorial stones of Culloden this reader found herself transported back to her own youthful visit there. Kate's joyous story allows us to imagine that a splendid Highland clansman is there for each of us.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A charming synthesis of fiction and historical fact.
Review: This first effort by Angie Kay is notable on many levels. The deft interweaving of character, plot and historical fact in this work is arresting. Also prominent is the lucid depiction of historical sites, such as the Culloden battlefield. I visited many of the sites mentioned in the book last year and Ms. Kay's descriptions brought them alive for me again. I am not a regular reader of romantic fiction but picked up this work because of its subject matter. I teach classes in British history and I am going to recommend this book to my students as an aid to their understanding. The book's sensitive portrayal of the historic events; its demonstration of the relevance of history to our lives today and the fact that it is a jolly good read lift it above the common throng of popular fiction. Well done!

Summary: Angie Kay has hit a home run her first time at bat
Review: We all wait for the perfect love. The author's lyrical romance describes the 'case of nerves" we've all experienced in one way or another. Alec and Kate find the love we all dream of, but so few of us find. The Gaelic expressions add to this rich story, and I could barely put it down. Make sure you have a couple hours when you pick it up, because the book will devour you like the loch ness monster.
