Rating: Summary: OK Review: Although the premise for this book was interesting, I found it didn't always follow through. The animosity between the hero and heroine was gone too swiftly, the villain was obvious and sort of contrived, as was the resolution. Only so-so.

Rating: Summary: Diverting Medieval Tale Review: Highland Bride is a diverting medieval tale about a spirited Scottish lass who captures a high member of a rival clan and forces him to marry her in order to forge an alliance which she hopes will bring peace.Madlin MacKendrick becomes laird of the MacKendricks when her father and brothers are brutally murdered, apparently by the Fraser clan. As Sir Ewan Fraser is returning to Scotland as a brave and brilliant warrior who led his country's fight against their enemies, Madlin captures him and forces him to wed her. So begins a battle of wills that turns into a deep and abiding respect and love. The development of the romance is sensual and satisfying, though Madlin sometimes seems a little over the top in her need to always dominate Ewan. Characters are in general well-developed and mostly sympathetic. The plot unfolds with mystery, intrigue and the threat of violence and is entertaining even though it was clear to me from early on who the mysterious bad guys were. Bieber knows how to play the drama in a scene and to write dialogue that holds the reader's interest. I can recommend the novel as a pleasant diversion.
Rating: Summary: A bit weak Review: I liked the story told in this book. About a female laird (a woman warrior) who forced a Scottish knight into marriage to stop the war between their 2 clans. I disliked that the knight in some parts of the story has been described as an idot, who doesn't have any pride our own will. To me he was not the character of a real Scottish Highlander. The woman on the other hand appeared sometimes very strong and brave and then again very weak.
Rating: Summary: High adventure mixed with passion and romance ! Review: The MacKendrick has one goal - to end the feud and the bloodshed by forging an alliance with their enemy, the Frasers. The MacKendrick's idea is not a new one - peace has been made through marriage alliances for centuries. The only difference is this time is The MacKendrick is a woman, Madlin, and the Frasers have no idea what she'd planning. Ewan Fraser, third son of The Fraser, finds himself a kidnapped, reluctant bridegroom. A marriage that starts as a means to stop the fighting, Madlin and Ewan soon find that it might end up being something more . . . Could it be love? I've been a fan of Janet Biebers for years, and it's been much too long since one of her books graced the bookstore's shelves, and mine! Highland Bride was not only everything I expect from this very talented author . . . it was even more, and well worth my wait. A love story as strong as the Highlands themselves, Highland Bride is destined for my keeper shelf. I'm now anxiously awaiting JB's next book, In Name Only.
