Rating: Summary: Warm Beer and Cold Women Review: I think no one could understand John teHaug who had not seen or properly imagined the place in which he was born and grew up.Buffalo,Ny a rust belt city that had a brief period of great wealth and promise. A city where the past seems more real than the present.Huge factories lie dormant, towering grain elevators stand watch over a town whose day has passed and will never come again.A city of no illusions. What remains is a culture that hard work can bring escape and redemption if you lower your expectations and accept cheap beer , "affordable housing" and basic survival as your reward. In his book the characters get off the barstool but they can never really escape the situation. With humor and a cynical eye he tells their story and a few others as well. So grab a beer read the book and have a few laughs. There is not always a happy ending but the love however carefully concealed is in here somewhere.
