Rating: Summary: A small town in Texas. Review: Some of the most splendid, ornate writing I've ever seen. Dansville, of course, is really Wharton, Texas, where I was born, and the story and setting takes you back somewhere to a simpler time, yet a time so much harder and in its way, far more complicated, and a lot more painful for women. Elaine and Hugh, Matt, Luther, Lettie, Clarence, Clara...all came to be people I cared about and I was hoping really hard for a sequel. But this story would be a hard act to follow. It certainly captured my heart.
