Rating: Summary: What a Gem! Review: As soon as I started this book, I know I couldn't put it down. And that's what happened! Wonderful characters, plot, and lots of action that will keep you going and going to the very end. This book is a must read. I know I would be reading every single titles by Ms. George.
Rating: Summary: A Captivating Tale Review: Clothed in tattered rags and dirt, Kate hides her true identity. She is The Fox, a ragamuffin who leads a group of youthful thieves. When Alec Breckridge discovers that the young "he" is really a "she," he is determined to transform Kate into the woman she was meant to be. Alec is a wonderful hero -- kind, sensitive, and loving. Independent Kate challenges his sense of honor and quickens his pulse with desire. The story has several twists. I found myself pulling for this odd couple as they worked to overcome serious obstacles to a meaningful relationship. The love affair of two special secondary characters is an added pleasure. Ms. George's novel moves along at a fast pace and weaves mystery, romance, and drama into every page. LIKE NO OTHER brings a panorama of emotions to the reader. Don't miss this captivating tale!

Rating: Summary: A pleasant surprise! Review: I hate romance novels. There are very few that I keep once they're read, and they're read in the first place usually for "filler" while I'm waiting for The Next Good Book from my favorite authors. So it was a complete and pleasant surprise that this book had bypassed the cliches of a normal romance novel and come up with substance to boot! Kate's whipsmart dialogue kept me reading. The characters are well-rounded and likable. This book is going on my Keeper Shelf! Definitely worth purchasing for your collection.
Rating: Summary: A really fun read! Review: LIKE NO OTHER is a wonderful read. Melanie George has a strong writing style that brings her characters and their environment alive in your mind. The author took me from the blase attitude of Alec's friend, Anthony to the emotional turmoil of Alec and Kate with ease, making me laugh out loud one minute and turn pages fast enough to make a breeze the next.
Rating: Summary: Captivating and Funny Review: Ms. George has done it again. By that I mean, even if I did start reading this author with one of her more recent novels, I have now set out to read all she has done and, so far, I am not disappointed. This, "Like No Other", is not your run of the mill romance. Her heroine is a cocky street smart urchin and her hero is an absolutely tender, strong, smart, sensual...need I say more...I loved him! Kate, aka the Fox, was a delight, making you both laugh and cry. Secondary characters, especially Holmes the butler provided the perfect foil for Ms. George to perfect her talent for snappy dialog in a most amusing and delightful way. Hat's off to you on this keeper and am looking forward to reading "Handsome Devil".
Rating: Summary: A thoroughly enjoyable read Review: Okay, so our heroine Kate is a pickpocket. Our hero Alec is a nobleman. It's a stretch, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway because of the previous reviews. What followed seemed both uninteresting and inane. An earl who can sew? Is this really someone's fantasy? It certainly isn't mine. They have 1 argument. It lasts a half a page. So much for snappy dialogue and tension between the characters... I'm not a writer and I have no intention of being one, but even I know a reader needs more than lots of gentle conversation and sappy thoughts inbetween. Even after Kate steals from Alec, he continues to believe in her goodness--for no reason that I can discern. The final straw, however, was the ending. The scuffle with the great villian was solved by neither Kate or Alec. Then in a silly epilogue, we're led to believe that a pickpocket can become a countess in 19th century England with little or no resistance from society. And that the earl's best friend, a duke no less, would take Kate's sister, also a pickpocket, as a wife, again with no comment from the rest of the nobility. Impossible! What saved this from being a 1 star was Kate's character. Not only did she sound as if she'd really come from London's mean streets, but she was a strong character for it. You can see how such a life has shaped her. Ms. George has talent, but needs to find a hero with a bit more spine and a story with a bit more drama.
