Summary: Stupid
Review: 1. The "arranged marriage" theme has gotten hackneyed. I thought western civilization prided itself on free marriages but the theme of the girl and guy getting married and falling in love AFTER is more common than you would expect. 2. The "love scenes" make me cringe. Sabrina is always resisting and Hunter is always the hormone-charged teenage boy. 3. Not much creativity is shown. The same ol' "sir" and "lord" calling stuff characteristic in Regency stuff, it's ok but it can get annoying after awhile. 4. STUPID, STUPID 2-dimensional characterization. For instance, Hunter is for the abolition cause. The issue is not important, the issue is why on earth is Hunter interested in this cause? Who gives a d@mn! Now, we know the abolition cause is a politcally correct position and hence the author has made Hunter be politically correct so he appeals more to us. As for Sabrina, I am so sick and tired of "heroines" who act stuck up and go on showing off something like "I can speak eight languages" or "I read Shakespeare". Sheesh, it seems as though the author likes to make fun of feminists. By the way, why does Sabrina support the women's cause too? All the good characters hasve to be politically correct of course!

Some good parts include one scene when Hunter is teasing Sabrina. Hunter is like this romantic figure that appears a lot in this genre. He is tough, good looking, but he is a total whim. He drinks, but he's NEVER an alcoholic, in asccordance with the brooding romantic figure. Hmph!

Summary: It was one of the best books I have ever read!!!
Review: Combining her love of history and romance seemed natural to author Janet Kendall. In her debut novel, "Hunter of My Heart," she incorporates both interests into an intriguing story of long-buried secrets and passionate desires. Hunter Sinclair, the Earl of Kenilworth, has an uncomfortable secret-a secret that will bring his entire family to ruins if it is revealed. So far, he has dealt with the circumstances admirably. But when one bedraggled little seamstress appears on his doorstep, threatening to expose everything he has worked so hard to hide, he does the one thing he can think of to stop her. He marries her. Sabrina Barrington has secrets of her own. While trying to hide herself and her young siblings from a controlling grandfather, she only wants what is owed to her. So she seeks out the notorious Earl of Kenilworth, determined he will make good on his debt. She didn't plan on falling head over heels in love with the handsome Scotsman. Nor did she plan on her scheming grandfather's coming onto the scene, forcing her to change her entire way of life. Capturing the elegance and refined emotions of Regency England, Janet Kendall makes her romance-novelist debut in stunning style. She will be an author to watch for in the future.

Review: I thought this book did not flow with the why's and where's or explain all the characters thoroughly enough to remember how and why they fit in or even exist.

To give the book credit, I did finish it but this one will be one I donate to my local library.

This book just didn't leave me with wanting more.

Review: The Mistaken Widow(Harlequin Historicals, #460)
by Janet Kendall

Sabrina Beaumont has no choice but to go to Scotland and track down Hunter Sinclair for the money he owes her. She now must take care of her twin siblings. Hunter doubts that the debts are his since he has been in Barbados for several years. He refuses to pay. The two are at an impasse.

Rain forces Sabrina to spend the night Before long, the Duke of Sadlerfield, Sabrina's grandfather, arrives at the castle. He blackmails Hunter into marrying Sabrina.

Living together with secrets, they slowly fall in love. Hunter thinks that the children brought into his home are Sabrina's cousins, and treats them with kindness. As their passion and love grow, their respective enemies plot revenge. The danger only makes their love and determination stronger.

Ms. Kendall has woven an intricate tapestry of plot, filled with twists and turns, along with a cast of complex characters. Enjoy this one-it's a page turner! SENSUAL

Summary: An okay book
Review: This was hardly the worst book I've ever read - but nothing really sets it apart from others in its genre.

Hunter Sinclaire is a pretty good hero - lots of internal torment and a pretty interesting secret.

Sabrina Barrington is a pretty good heroine. Pretty feisty - with her own secret agenda.

Unfortunately, that's the best I can say about this book. There were too many side characters, too many issues, and too many secrets.

The dialogue was okay. The romance okay. In my opinion, it wasn't a bad book. But it's not going to stay on my keeper shelf, either.
