Rating: Summary: An original and thrilling work! Review: I felt I was reading an eyewitness account of an exciting journey into the clouds. Ms. Helton has again amazed me with her attention to historical detail, yet original plotting. Not since Jules Verne's SIX WEEKS IN A BALLOON have I read such an unusual adventure. While keeping her characters involved in the romance, Ms. Helton pushes them to -- literally-- great heights in a rosin gas balloon, all for love of the Confederacy. Rafe is a multi-faceted character whose inner conflict in some ways exceeds Lizzy's. I especially liked the adventure in the caverns beneath a mountain in Tennessee-- I felt I was THERE, doomed to die. This is a book for men and women alike.
Rating: Summary: My second of her two books Review: I read two of this authors books sapphire and diamond. I enjoyed the author's work and i enjoyed reading both. Romance isnt usualy my forte but she intertwines historical items and makes them into something quite unique.

Rating: Summary: escape for a day with this good read Review: I'm not a romanace reader, but this is a good story. Beautifully crafted piece of writing. I'm sure you'll fall in love with the spicy child Hattie-Lee. Good thing she wasn't grown and a military commander, otherwise, we all might be whistling Dixie

Rating: Summary: An original and thrilling work! Review: Wow!! As an "average joe," I rarely read historical romance novels, but having read Ms. Helton's first two novels, I had to read the third. Did I say "read?" DEVOUR would be a better word! This work is not only original, but exciting, intriguing, and spell-binding as well. Really takes one into the action. As a pilot, and skydiver, I STILL got butterflies in my stomach living the adventure with these two heroes! Soaring aloft in a gas rosin balloon, with enemy-fire and a cadre of villains tracking them relentlessly--not to mention the terror of Mother Nature's fury! This would make an excellent "Romancing The Stone" type of movie. BRAVO!! Can't wait for the next one!
