Rating: Summary: Great Romantic Fantasy!! Review: Dance of the Flame is an excellent example of a romantic fantasy - beautiful and heroic heroine, handsome hero, and a lot of magic. I recommend this book very highly, as it combines two fun genres into one wonderful read!
Rating: Summary: Interesting magical tale; lacks 'oomph.' 3&1/2 stars. Review: Once upon a time, in the fantasy world of Orem, the power-hungry House of Rall challenged the benevolent rule of the House of Neer--and won. Sera is the "Spirit-of-Neer-confined-in-flame" reborn. To fulfill the Prophecy, she must join forces with Tolin of Rall--also known as the hated 'Death's Shadow' to the followers of Neer.Overall the story was okay, but I found Serbaak's role just way too pat. I also don't get how Sera is suddenly 'in love' with Tolin when all he'd shown her so far were angry nonexplanations for his actions & callous disregard for her concerns. Another complaint is that EB refers to the place as the two 'worlds' of Orem. HA! Two 'countries' is more like it--they are called by the (unimaginative) names of Orem Proper & Orem Minor. Also recommended: the fantasy worlds of Madeline Baker's "Beneath a Midnight Moon" & "Warrior's Lady."
