Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Way too much plot getting in the way of the romance.
Review: Bonnie Redding arrives at the Redding Institute hoping to bridge a decades long gap between her and her father. What she finds is a cold, distant scientist, a mystery, and an irresistable hunk of an enigma. Heart of the Beast suffers from both an emphasis on the mystery over the romance and the beauty hugging most of the spotlight. The beast seems to spend a lot of time off stage, which makes the romance seem perfunctory, at first. Nonetheless, I warmed to it (being a horror buff at heart, the werewolf slant and gothic mood made it all worthwhile), liked the characters (although I would have liked to have gotten to know Nicholas better sooner rather than later) and found the bad guy easy to hate. So I'm giving it an extra star.
