Summary: A Mostly Funny Peek at a Difficult Life
Review: I suppose if you happen to suffer from OCD this book is about as satisfying as a chicklette for dessert, but I'm just a run of the mill neurotic, so I have to say I found it quite enjoyable. But I'm guilty about that, believe me. Emily Colas lives a difficult life, no doubt, but that she can carry on with such humor is amazing to me. I think if I had a poison-in-the-food phobia, I'd never leave the house, never mind get married and have children. She's a brave woman who wrote an interesting and very funny book. Though it's not for everyone. My husband, when I explained why I was laughing with my nose in a book, was appalled when I read a portion to him. He made me feel guiltier yet - but not guilty enough to put the book down. It was good. More, Ms. Colas

Summary: Too cutesy, too magical of a solution, yet painful/real
Review: I was disappointed in this. It was simply too flip, yet one can find some important and realistic details of OCD and the pain it causes family as well as the person with the illness. Plus so many people are not relieved by a magic pill, and she gives no sign of this. Yet I appreciated her humor and perspective. I was disappointed in the book as a whole.

Summary: Don't Try This At Home
Review: Ms. Colas does a fine job with this skinny book that makes OCD somewhat accessible to the general public. Interesting was that I found this book in the humor section. More interesting is the fact that Ms. Colas portrays OCD as a fluffy, quirky inconvenience. I don't think this was her aim though.

But remember...OCD is a serious disease that you wouldn't wish upon your worst enemy. Individual results may vary.

Summary: An Eye-Opener for Non-Ocders
Review: Ms. Colas's honesty is refreshing and helpful to those who suffer from this disease. Another reviewer wrote that the author shared her insanity. OCD is a specific disease and those affected are not crazy. This book provides a service by giving the general public an entertaining, yet informative look into the mind of one afflicted with this disease.

Summary: If you struggle with this disorder PLEASE read!
Review: This book has made such a difference in my life. Emily Colas has taught me to laugh at my pain instead of hiding it. Anyone who struggles with this disorder should buy it...NOW! The happiness and content that I felt after reading this book is incredible. I wish I could meet the author to give her a big hug and ask her where she's been all my life! This book will become your best friend.

Summary: Funny - NO WAY !!!! Pathetic - YES !
Review: This book is a wonder - it manages to be extremely funny without ever downplaying the seriousness of the disease OCD. Colas is a sympathetic character who never asks for the reader's pity. This makes the book a joy to read, a delightful bit of brain candy which, unlike so many sweets, has a great deal of nutritional value, too. Whether you see yourself in Ms. Colas' experience or not, you come away from this book feeling that you know her and have a true understanding of her illness - and that you're better for it.

Summary: one of the smartest books I have ever read...
Review: This is absolutely one of the sharpest, smartest, most honest pieces of writing that I have ever read. Emily Colas is extraordinarily talented and I will eagerly look forward to her next endevour. I am convinced that Colas could tackle any topic with only stellar results. She has the heart of an angel and the wit and style of a superstar. Congatulations, Emily!
