Rating: Summary: Worthwhile Review: I give the AVI high marks for breaking free from the grip of inaccurate orthodox teachings about blurred vision being irreversible and how to "correct" it. It's very refreshing to hear people within the profession speaking out. However, I was disappointed that there was no reference made (at least not that I could find) to Dr. Bates, the man who pioneered natural vision improvement over 80 years ago. The AVI gives you the impression that they're onto something new, when that's certainly not the case.I'm still not convinced of the effictiveness of many of the eye "exercises" and "booster" techniques to help speed the progress. I've been undergoing natural vision improvement for quite some time and I tried a strict regimen of exercises, including many shown in this book. I can honestly state that I don't know whether they've made any difference in my progress, although I still do a few from time to time for good measure just in case they are doing something positive. I've achieved a lot of gains (one can immediately tell) when I've least expected them, when I wasn't consciously doing anything but using my eyes naturally for day to day activities. My progress seems to be on its own time frame (just as if I were to break a bone, it will heal on its own time). Any book that gets the message out about natural vision improvement is worthwhile in my view. This is one of four books I have on the subject and, of the four, Relearning to See is the best and most comprehensive.
Rating: Summary: Just want to say something... Review: I had once asked my eye doctor if there was anything I could do to improve my eyesight. He said, "No, you will need to get stronger prescription glasses". Two years later, I stumbled upon this book. My prescription strength was -3.00 (L) and -3.50 (R), with a slight astigmatism in my right eye. After two and a half months of performing these exercises roughly every other day, my prescription strength is now -1.75 (L) and -2.25 (R), with no trace of astigmatism. I personally don't care what method this is based on and what new packaging the authors are doing. This book works for me and that's what I care about. For the first time in 15 years, I can look at my alarm clock in the morning and see what time it is without glasses or squinting. This book has worked for me.
Rating: Summary: Exercises didn't work but has good info about eyes Review: I religiously did the exercises for 2 months and I have not noticed any difference in my eyesight. I was skeptical to begin with but it's worth a shot since the book only costs 8 bucks. The book does contain some good basic medical information about the eye. I suspect some of the miracles that happened in other reviews were written my the marketers of AVI. It's a little hard to believe this tiny group of eye doctors when overwhelming medical evidence say eye exercies wont't correct vision. But like I said, it's worth a shot.
Rating: Summary: Good book on eye exercise Review: I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve eyesight. The book is straightforward with complete instructions on the eye exercises. It is true that everyone can improve one's eyesight by doing eye exercise. Although the method does work, it takes time. Don't expect a quick fix. You have to be patient and persistent. I think the book has exaggerated the speed of results. I believe, for someone who has low a prescription, they can improve to see perfectly in a short period of time because I saw a big improvement in my vision for the first 3 months after I did the exercise. However, it levels off. To reduce a high presciption like me, it is slow. In my case, I was -8.75. After exerersing for a year and half, my vision has been reduced to -7. I am still doing it beliving that I will one day, many years from now, do not have to wear contacts. By the way, don't buy the "See Clearly Method" program. It is exactly the same program described in this book but is packaged with additional video/tapes and fancy marketing for over ten times the cost of this book. Buy this book instead.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: I've read this book all the way through several years ago and am finally putting it to use. I've procrastinated in doing the eye exercises and I'm finally about to start them now. My vision is terrible and after reading this book I was stunned to find out how much we all don't know about how to improve our vision. This book tells you how to exercise your eyes like any other part of your body that needs fitness or toning up. If you don't help tone it up it all goes downhill from there. I started wearing glasses in 4th grade and know I probably wouldn't even be wearing glasses if I knew then what I knew now. If it was corrected at the beginning. My vision would probably be perfect again. Now I have a lazy eye, very bad vision, and I'm about to go to the doctor about an infection on my eye that could very well be cataracts. The scary thing is a lot of eye doctors aren't taught the things in this book, thereby don't often realize themselves that one could improve one's vision through eye exercises and progressive undercorrection--a means of making the vision stronger by prescribing a lense or contact of 20 less than needed. Glasses and contacts have become a crutch and we all know what happens when you lean on something too much. So I'd advise most people to read this book since just about all of us nowadays where glasses or sometime of vision crutch.
Rating: Summary: Just want to say something... Review: Sorry for my bad english :) (I wrote this originally in response to other "review" only, but then I read some review guidelines ,and they say something like "you can't talk about the review of other people,so....I dumped the quote but my response still stays) I have talked to my physician and he wanted me to wear glass, Which I did for 1 and a half year and my sight got worse and worse. So I came back to him to ask for advice and he just gave me a thicker, heavier glass. I think I wore it for a week and I couldn't stand the headache any more,so I just discarded it and try to see with my own eyes. Guess what! It's been 1 year after that, and my sight even gets a little bit better! I'm just starting to do the exercises in the book so I can't tell if they works for me or not,but I know one thing from experience............ GLASS DOES'T HELP YOUR EYESIGHT,ONLY MAKE IT WORSE! ahem, thank you for reading my opinion. PS. As for the book,it's easy to read, concise, and straightforward. If you want to know about this subject, then buy this book. however, you might be interested in more "In-depth" book like this Title "Relearning to See: Improve Your Eyesight - Naturally! by Thomas R. Quackenbush"
Rating: Summary: The eye exercises Review: The "new program" is the Bates travesty in the new, tawdry, commercial clothes. As if the superficial brochure was not enough, the authors developed also a video version - with a comfortable price margin. Be a fool, if you like it.

Rating: Summary: This book will revolutionize the optometry industry, if read Review: This book is very outspoken about the inadequate practices that's going on in the optometry industry. Eye doctors do not want people to know what you will learn in this book, for they fear that they will go out of business. Shortsighted thinking. I've already recommended this book to over 20 people among families and friends. One friend, after only 2 weeks of doing the exercises, noticed that he was able to read the fine print on the shampoo bottle while showering. Excited, he went to his eye doctor for a re-examination. The doctor said that there was a dramatic reduction of the myopic state of his eye. His new prescription was reduced by .75 in both eyes. The left was reduced from -3.00 to -2.25 and the right eye was reduced from -2.50 to -1.75. In my case, after 3 months of exercises, my objective myopic measurement reduced from -2.25 in the left eye to -1, and -2.00 in the right eye to -1. When I discovered vision therapy I was outraged, because I particularly asked my eye doctor on several occasions if there's anything that he can recommend that will prevent my eyes from getting worse, and he said "No". That is the same doctor I went back to for a re-examination because I wanted to confront him with the issue. He attempted to give me a referral to a behavioral optometrist, but I told him that I wanted him to examine my eyes to see the improvement I got by using the AVI Method, the Bates Method, and the Janet Goodrich Methods. While examining my eyes, he admitted that my vision had improved significantly to 20/70. It was about 20/400 progressing to 20/800. You'll never regret reading this book. If you use glasses or know ANYONE who uses glasses, please tell about this book. People should not have to pay to go blind or to be kept in ignorance. Doctors are here to help us get better nor worse. This book helps your vision get better. Finally, direct ALL of your friends and relatives to a behavioral optometrist. They are the ones who deserve to be paid, because they are trying to get you off glasses not hooked on it. This is not the end! When I get my vision back to 20/20 there's going to be a big noise in the land regarding the practice of optometry. I will help the doctors who wrote this book tell the whole world the truth about the practice of traditional optometrist and the alternative methods available
