Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Reference Text
Review: This book is a great compilation of research surrounding strength and sports performance. This would make a great addition to someone wanting to learn more about the scientific nature of strength and how it pertains to athletics.

You should be aware, however, that this is not a typical book in that you read each chapter lightly. The writing style is very similar to peer-reviewed journals.

Some of the sample chapters such as "Stretch-Shortening Cycle" and "Neural Adaptation to Strength Training" are excellent.

This book would make a great supplement to an exercise physiology student or anyone interested in exercise science.
