Rating: Summary: OT exam review book Review: I have the earlier edition of this book, and bought this edition to get new questions. Sadly to say, there were only a few new questions. I am quite disappointed.
Rating: Summary: OT exam review book Review: I used this book as a study guide to practice my timing by answering 200 question at a time within the 4 hour period given for the NBCOT exam. I found that the questions did not even come close to what was on the certification exam, but it was helpful because it looks at all aspects of therapy. My advice would be to order the NBCOT study guide because it comes the closest to what you will see on the actual exam. Good Luck.
Rating: Summary: OTR who took the March 2000 NBCOT exam Review: I used this book as a study guide to practice my timing by answering 200 question at a time within the 4 hour period given for the NBCOT exam. I found that the questions did not even come close to what was on the certification exam, but it was helpful because it looks at all aspects of therapy. My advice would be to order the NBCOT study guide because it comes the closest to what you will see on the actual exam. Good Luck.
Rating: Summary: OTR Exam, yikes! Review: Sladyk's study book was one of the major tools I used to prepare for the OTR exam. Her inclusion of explanations to the answers (both right and wrong) was the most useful feature of the guide, providing the reader with instant feedback and info. A suggestion for future editions would be to include references with the answers so the reader could access additional information. Occasionally there would be an answer that I didn't understand and I REALLY wanted to read more about it, which isn't always an easy (or quick) task when you're not sure where to look first. Also, this study guide does not reflect the recent format change of the NBCOT exam. The exam now asks questions in a more problem-solving/case study style rather than the "reciting facts" edge it apparently used to have (or at least so I had heard). The NBCOT Study Guide (although pricy at $40) was very helpful with enlightening the reader with the new flair of question format. Karen Sladyk has also published (through Slack as well)a box of OT study cards, which are SO GREAT. I owe a friend of mine (Libby) bigtime for giving me these handy cards. Wow. Concise. Granted, they don't go into extreme detail, but Sladyk and her colleagues choose words wisely for the limited space. Don't shove these in the closet when the exam is over. They're too useful! Best of luck for anyone studying for the next OTR exam.
Rating: Summary: An okay review book Review: Some of the questions are poorly written and explanations for answers are often very brief. The diskette uses the same questions as the book, so I didn't find it very helpful. I wish the diskette would have had at least some (if not all) new questions. The book does use many domain style questions (like the NBCOT exam). I wouldn't recommend this book to be the only book you use to prepare for the exam, but it is somewhat useful.
Rating: Summary: Terrible review Review: This book only review's the right answer on the questions. It does not go indepth on why an answer is right OR wrong. Some of the questions have you wondering, where did I learn some of this stuff from? The material in this book, is VERY different from the study material in other books I have used. It is very hard to review of this book, and non-user friendly.
