Summary: A classic, but don't expect just recipes, this is maths
Review: A classic. However this book is not a "cookbook" of numerical recipes, rather it places a strong emphasys in the numerical properties of algorithms. Good all-rounder and good sections on linear systems and interpolation. You'll probably want to complement this book with specialists on matrix computations, ODE, PDE and optimisation.
