Rating: Summary: full of misinformation Review: This book is full of mis-statements and errors. For example, on page 125, he states that male fiddler crabs do not use their large claw to fight fellow males or attract females. Nonsense. Go to the beach and watch them use the claw to threaten males and attract females. Same page, he states that fighting between males for domination generally leads to no advantage to the winner. Wrong again. Watch bull seals or elk fight to control a harem. Also, he is attacking a straw man, since already known that mate selection is more complex than just a battle of brawn. Same page, he says that the majority of species do not fight with each other. He totally misses the point, that the greatest competition usually occurs between the most closely related species, and within species. This book is embarrassingly bad. Chock full of misinformation and illogic, it is also disingenuous in implying that it is a rational inquiry into the subject. It is a combination of creation science and commercial exploitation. Please, go get a basic science education. It is much more interesting. And real.
