Rating: Summary: A masterful treatment of Analysis Review: Analysis is considered by many students to be the most challenging area of Mathematics. This book however, does a superb job of guiding the student through the study of Mathematical Analysis in a very accessible, yet rigorous way. This wonderful text covers everything from the basic properties of the Real number system, to basic Topological concepts, to Function Analysis, to Differentiation and Integration in R^n, to Basic Fourier Analysis. All this and more, in an upfront, logical fashion which anyone could follow. The excercises given in each section are superb and geniunely serve to extend the student's understanding. After reading this book I was able to test out of all the undergraduate Analysis courses at my University and jump straight into Graduate level courses, which I did very well in. I could not be more appreciative of Dr. Douglass' help. Douglass should be commended for this extremely insightful, helpful work. Whether you have never studied Analysis before, or are seeking to further your understanding of this most interesting and honored subject, I heartily recommend this outstanding text. You will not be dissapointed.
