Rating: Summary: Good overview for a background in chemical oceanography Review: We covered a good deal of this text in an undergraduate chemical oceanography class at UC-Davis. It provided a good background into the science and assumes no extensive background in chemistry. There is a strong emphasis on carbonates and for those who are not deficient in manipulating equations, the formulas should be relatively easy to follow. Each chapter comes complete with references and the appendices are very thorough. In my opinion, the index could have been more complete and included more search possibilities, I did have trouble finding very specific items. I come from a biological background and was able to follow every chapter in the Pilson's book. Pilson writes very clearly, and I intend to keep this book as a general reference.
