Summary: An excellent combination of theory and practice
Review: As a cardiothoracic fellow I found this book to be invaluable. It contained the pertinant information across the spectrum of both cardiac and thoracic surgery. In a very clear fashion it presented both the theory and practice behind the various topics. I found that this book could serve as both a basic text as well as a reference to answer specific questions. This book also was able to distill dowm a tremendous amount of information into a single volume; covering the highlights and saliant points.

Review: This work summarizes current techniques and patient care in cardiothoracic surgery. The editors have assembled chapters by leading surgeons in General Thoracic, Congential, and Adult Cardiac Surgery. The chapters provide excellent key illustrations and summary tables. At the end of each chapter, the editors highlight specific issues, providing alternative prospective and emphasis. Overall, an excellent addition to any Cardiothoracic Surgeon's library.
