Review: this book cover the basics of the unfamiliar subject of Quantum Mechanics. The book is very thorough, but it may be a little to complex for some readers. You might want to bone up on differential equations and thermal dynamics before starting. If you want to learn the subject thouhg, read this book!

Summary: If you can stick with it...
Review: This book is supposed to be a first course in quantummechanics. Most students who are fresh to the material willfind that it "throws you into the middle of things" from the very beginning. If the student can stick with the material, they will find Peebles' text to be an exceptional first course. The problem sets and discussion are both somewhat thorough, however, a bit more discussion would certainly benefit the reader more.
