Summary: Great book for clinical pain assessment and management!
Review: "PAIN: Clinical Manual" 2nd edition, is a book that should be thoroughly read (and used) by health care providers who deal with pain patients. This book addresses many myths and misconceptions surrounding pain, and explains the mechanisms of pain. It supplies pain management techniques, both medicinal and non-medicinal. The text and charts are comprehensive and clear. I appreciate the permissions for use of the charts, and will be using them for pain assessment in clincial studies. Education in pain assessment and management is generally lacking in medical education. This book supplies much of that needed knowledge. My thanks to the authors.

Summary: Rates a 20 on the VAS!!
Review: I found this book so helpful to me in my practice, that I bought a second copy - leave one in the office, and one at home so that whenver I need a reference, it is right there. Margo and Chris have provided those of us interested in pain managment with a jewel - this book just has it all. And they generously allow you to photocopy patient education materials.

It is the best thing out there. My only regret about this book is the quality of the paper - too thin, and when you use it all the time, it tears easily. I hope in the third edition the publisher will upgrade the paper. I would be willing to spend more for better quality paper.

So, on a scale of 0 - 10, with 0 being blah and 10 being SUPER, this book is a 20!!!

Summary: Pain: Clinical Manual
Review: It is not often one finds a text that is useful on a day to day basis. This text is truly a gem in providing information for physicians, nurses, technicians and other personnel who deal with people living with pain on a day to day basis. Numerous charts, diagrams, understandable explanations are attractive. The amount of reproducible information alone (patient education materials, pain evaluation assessment tools, etc.) make this book a MUST HAVE!!!
