Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: Cohen-Tannoudji move over, the new big dog of quanum mechanics has arrived. This book illuminates the mysteries of quantum mechanics like no other that I have read.
Rating: Summary: by a long way the best in this field Review: This book is broad, general and extremely thorough, by far and away the most thorough and easy to read of the six books I have read on this subject. The introduction says it all by claiming that the most difficult part to understanding semiconductor materials is the quantum mechanics, and Loehr gives the reader an extremely firm grounding in the necessary quantum theory. Also the sugested reading at the end of each chapter is a superb idea.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant!!! Quantum Well Laser Physics is so clear now!!! Review: This Loehr guy is a whiz! This book filled a much needed void in my education. I barely finished high school but now I'm performing the multiband envelope function approximation on my own. This is what I call solid state physics for the masses! If this guy wrote a book about Stonehenge or Druids I would probably understand them too!!
