Rating: Summary: Perfect. End of Argument. Review: I would give this 100 stars instead of a measly 5 but oh well. This may be discouaraging with over 700 pages to slow readers. I am a slow reader and it took me a whole summer to finish and I have to say one thing, It was worth the effort.
Rating: Summary: Harry's growing up, and so are his adventures Review: "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is by far the best--and most thought-provoking--in the series. While it starts off in typical zany fashion as the Weasleys fetch Harry to attend the Quidditch World Cup finals, complete with strange traveling arrangements and spells galore, the book quickly veers into more turbulent waters, as the World Cup gathering is terrified by the sighting of the Dark Mark, not seen since the dreaded Lord Voldemort stalked the wizarding world. To further complicate matters, Harry is inexplicably chosen to compete in the Triwizard Tournament, held between Hogwarts and two other wizarding schools, and finds himself contending with much more than he expected.Older kids and Harry's many adult fans will find "Goblet of Fire" to be compelling reading. This is by far the darkest book in the series, with some extraordinarily chilling scenes (yes, there's even some bloodshed). Parents of younger Harry Potter fans may want to take a look through the book before passing it on--there is some mild profanity (the d-word and the h-word) and situations that may confuse or frighten little ones, particularly towards the end. The length (734 pages) may also be intimidating for some kids. J.K. Rowling, however, is developing into an amazing fantasy writer. She is obviously aware of Harry's maturing audience, and each book is a little more complex, a little deeper--and ultimately better than the last.
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read Review: This was most definately the best book i have ever read in my life. I thought it was way over rated but I was wrong. The new tri-wizard tournament is very cool indeed, especially the last task! This is certian buy for everyone 11 to 111. I would have given this 9.99999999 billion stars, but I couldent! :-(
Rating: Summary: I agree Review: This book is GREAT. Like the other three books, the real bad guy, who's stirring things up this time at Hogwarts, is once again a SURPRISE. Around the second third of the book, everything turns serious and all of Harry's daily life challenges seem less than trivial. This makes this book have more weight than the others, and i think i am by no means the only one to stay up all night to see what happens. This book draws you deeper into the wizarding world; it seems that Harry is almost all but losing his ties to the muggle world. Even so, he is STILL, after 4 years, having revelations about the wizard world. Good thing he has Ron for a friend...or does he? There are about 4 or 5 different mysteries going on in this one, some small, some huge (the Goblet of Fire one coming to mind). Hermione's character is reinforced in this one; her brilliance and loyalty are a big help to Harry, and Harry isn't the only person to notice her good qualities. If you have read the other books, I'm SURE you can't wait to find out what happens with Sirius, Snape, Cho...Rich in plot, suspensful, colorful characters (each with their different side--McGonagall, strict yet soft; Dumbledore, powerful yet humorous; Snape, "evil" yet...well, there's one mystery that's gonna have to wait for the next book--) and please, read it more than once. You'll find little things, foreshadowing, that makes you say "OH!" Things that made sense before will have a whole different meaning the second time...and don't be intimidated by the length....If anything, it should be longer!!!!!
Rating: Summary: a good book full of surprises Review: I found this book great but it kind of missed some action. While it had a great plot it had only 3 great parts, one o.k., in over 700 pages!!! I've read childrens books with a better action ratio. Other than that it was very well put together. The way the plot was made you guess 'till the very end. I espesially liked the ending because suprises are what I like in a good book.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books ever written and Ms. Rowling's best! Review: The Goblet of Fire is a magnificent book for several reasons. First, Ms. Rowling constantly rewards the reader who has read the other three books by mentioning details (and then reiterating the details) from the other books and adding more complexities to the various nuggets of information. Second, although book starts off a bit slower than the other three noevels, this is due to the richer and more complicated story line (as compared to the other three novels). The more sophisticated story line should please adult readers as the plot is more complex and eventually, far scarier, than the other three novels. Don't miss this book! (I'm 34 - no one is too old to read these books!)
Rating: Summary: Best book? Oh yeah! Review: If this Harry Potter book isn't the best, then your crazy! This book is so awsome i can't even start explaining how good it is! The Goblet of Fire is about when Harry is magically picked from a goblet to enter a tournament that he didn't even put his name in for! So he goes through many hard, awful tasks, including saving his best friend! Strange things start happening to Harry, just like the goblet. Is someone after him? What's gonna happen next? Well, your just going to have to read to find out!
Rating: Summary: Now...when's Book 5 coming out? Review: Rowling at her spiffiest! I was extremely happy to find out this book was over 700 pages because I'm a fast reader..."Goblet of Fire" took four hours to read but of course I read it over and over again. The only problem with a 700-page hardcover book is it can be difficult to hold in the bathtub. (Don't ask.) JK is best at the little details that make Harry Potter books so fun to read...Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and the mysterious and amusing attracting powers of the veela, for example. Now I have to twiddle my fingers in anticipation of the next installment, which I know will shatter its own record for books published. To bide your time, I suggest the schoolbooks JK wrote for Comic Relief, especially "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" which includes a description of the Puffskein, a sweet and cuddly child's pet who enjoys eating boogers.
Rating: Summary: WAY too long, but still a good thinking book Review: I am very sure that JK Rowling could have expressed everything that this book needs and put in about 100 or 200 less pages. It still has a lot of plots and adventures with the multi school tournament and the whole fight with Voldemort again. I think he should die in the next book. I am kind of tired about reading about people saying you know who and he is so scary in the book. It is just boring. I did like the idea of Harry being magicaly put into the tournament by some force that put his name into the Goblet of fire. It was hard to put down because you just had to know what amazing catastrophe that Harry can save the day at. I bet that Harry and that girl that was also in the tourmnament are going to marry at the end of the series. Who knows? I need a good read some time so I am looking forward to JK Rowling to come out with her book some time. :)
Rating: Summary: Excelent book for Harry Potter fans Review: The fourth in the series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is exciting and full of mysteries. Harry is in his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and has to accomplish many thrilling adventures. His name is mysteriously put into the goblet and is thrown into the competition with older more experienced wizards. With help of friends, Harry defeats dragons, finds his way through a maze, and comes face to face with the one who tried to defeat him years ago, Voldemort.I recommend you read this book and follow Harry through his great adventures.
