Rating: Summary: Triwizard Championship!! Review: Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts was the most interesting one, to me. It had a whole lot of suspense, which made it even better. This year at Hogwarts, there is a Triwizard Championship, and Harry gets in, even though he is not old enough. Once I read this, I knew he was in trouble and some one was out to get him. And there could only be one person--Voldemort! To find out what happens to Harry in this amazing and enchanting book, hurry up and read it!
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I am a very big fan of J.K. Rowling's series of Harry Potter novels. I was first exposed to this book in school where people were telling me that the books were great and I had to read this one. So I read all three and finally got to this one. This book was great! This book starts of with a creepy chapter that I think could have been made a prologue instead of a chapter, whatever. The book then turns right back to the normal where Harry is found at the Dursley's house. He goes with Ron and Hermione to the Quiiditch World Cup where he meets VERY impotrant people. He is then shipped off to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express where he unfortunatly meets the horrible Draco Malfoy. When he gets to school there is news that Quidditch season is canceled and the Triwizard tournament will be hel. I think I'll stop here and not give away the plot. Please read this book and don't be intimidated by the size of it. You'll love this book. Happy Reading!
Rating: Summary: Keeps getting better and better.... Review: What a terrific book! Rowling delivers once again. There is so much that I like about this book, I dont' know where to start. First, lets start with a mini review. As the book opens, Harry is heading off the the Quidditch World Cup. Ofcourse, when he's there, something happens, and it's lead to believe that he-who-musn't-be-named will show up soon. As Harry gets set for his 4th year at Hogwarts, he soon learns that Quidditch will not be played this year. Instead a new contest will be held, Triwizards Tournament". This is when a couple of Wizards Schools meet (at Hogwarts this year) and one from each School is picked by the "Goblet of Fire". Harry is to young to be entered, but that last name that the "Goblet of Fire" spits out is our favorite wizard, Harry Potter. Now who could have put in Potter's name? Was it Snape? Skeeter Could he do that? You'll have to read to find out. I liked the character of Moody. What a great character. I also have been impressed with Herminoe. She is my favorite character. What I like is how all of the books flow into each other and how they all srring board off each other. This book is a bit darker than the rest. What makes this darker is that fact that there is a murder. This isn't spoiling anything, Rowling made this known before the book came out. What also draws me to the series that that we get to know more and more about each of the characters as the books come out. I highly suggest that you read this book. Rowling has a genius mind, and it can easily be seen.

Rating: Summary: Too long, too dark. Not for children below 16 Review: Too long, too dark!. Not fit for kids below 16! I am disappointed from Book 4. Book 1+2 were compact stories giving a certain positive view to the reader. May funny passages compensated the message of the non-ideal world in which Harry, too, lives. This is not the case with this book. Although twice as long, the passages are longwinded, without much fun, partly implausible. This book is even for adults tough. I cannot recommend this book for children, since albs are guaranteed. In contrast to the former books, Harry now escapes not because of luck AND his abilities, but only because the Bad (tm) now either wants too or makes big blunders. The last showdown with the impostor is like a cheap crime novel, in which the bad guy talks and talks till finally the police turns up at his back. I assume that Rowling overworks herself and wrecks her creativity and that her truely magnificent first books just needed time to grow. I also for the first time had the feeling that Rowling will write a long-breathed 7book-series, although she has blocked many future options for the story in book 4. After this book, I am sorry to say that I WAS a fan of Rowling. All parents, please read this book BEFORE you give it to your children (or don't buy it if that's still an alternative --))
Rating: Summary: Cant put the book down, Review: I love a book that keeps me up all night till I finish it. All four books are great I was hooked after the first page I have sinced gotten all my adult friends to read the series. Have yet to meet someone who doenst like HArry Potter. Book 5 cant come quick enough, till then Im reading what I can to fill in the time.
Rating: Summary: Beginning to Pale Review: The problem with the Harry Potter series is that they are starting to lose their freshness. The first book was strikingly original. After this, the plot grew more interesting in Book 3, but this book doesn't do that much to advance the rather complicated plot, and Voldemort's rise is left as an ominous portent for the next books. By book 4, Rowling is starting to run out of steam, I suspect. The imagination is growing a little less vivid... and the form is growing predictable. The book is still a fun romp. But its starting to pale... Also Rowling does a really bad job of creating a feeling of menace with Voldemort. The beginning chapter is almost farcical- the evil badguy rubbing his hands together and scheming with his cringing sidekicks. Also by this time I've grown tired of all the standard teacher characters- the usual evil Snape, stern Mrs. McGonagall, and the wise but rather whimsical Dumbledore. One wants to see more development with the people. Also, these books are not really adult's books. They are fun for them to read. But they are definitely aimed at children; they refuse or are reluctant to deal head-on with themse like betrayal, love, and death (Cedric Diggory, a main character? ha. And he's the only death). Anyway if you're a Harry Potter fan you should pick this book up; but if you didn't like the series don't continue. For me, the series is beginning to fade just a little.
Rating: Summary: Whats really about the Harry Potter Books Not just the Hype Review: First of all, as many people know, the Harry Potter books are wonderful. Instead of following the hype, realize how the author's style of writing affects the book and makes it great. What literary devices she uses, such as alliteration, or flashback. This book is great because when I read it, I can relate to the things i'm learning in my english class. J.K Rowling makes you feel as if you could become one of the characters, and wish you could go to Hogwarts. I've heard that a lot of schools are banning Harry Potter books from school reading lists. I had to read "Call of the Wild" by Jack London, and found it to be very violent w/ a lot of gore. We are allowed to read that because it is a "classic", but yet we can't read Harry Potter because it talks about flying broomsticks, and funny magic spells. I mean come on! How ridiculous is that! Major league sports are more violent than Quidditch. And how are flying broomsticks offensive? First of all, because of the hype, people think that kids ages 3-8 can read or be read to. Maybe it works for some kids but half the stuff I really do not think they would understand. Its a young adult book, more along the lines of 9-up. Thank you for reading what I have to say.
Rating: Summary: "This book makes the shelf shine" Review: This book was the best book I have ever read. If you are in for excitement this book is the one you want to read. The cool thing about this book is that if you start to get sick of it, just read one more page and you will be back into the book . Once you read one book you will not be able to stop reading the series. The first book was better than the second, but after that they just keep getting better. So if you want a book with nonstop action go get this book off the shelf.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best books I have read Review: Andrew Kron This fourth book of this seven part series is, out of the four, the best. This year is the Triwizard Tournament. One person from each of the schools: Durmstrang, Beuxbutons, and Hogwarts will participate in the Triwizard Tournament. When all the names are called out of the Goblet of Fire another name comes out. The name read Harry Potter. Harry's adventure is just starting with the wizard tournament first and many suprises later. This is a great book and I would recommend it to everyone.
