Summary: A pivotal book in the series
Review: No doubt about it, J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" books DO get better and better with each volume. No. 4, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," is going to be a tough act to follow, and I am already looking forward to No. 5.

I've never been able to see any merit in the opinion that so-called children's books cannot be read and enjoyed by adults. The Harry Potter series is a perfect example of fine literature that can be enjoyed by all ages.

With each book, Harry and his companions age one year. As they get older, their perspectives gain in maturity. The writing becomes more mature in keeping with the characters' development. Book 4, in my opinion, is already at or above the reading level of some adults. My husband and I have worked to cultivate rich vocabularies, and we had to look up a couple of words in the dictionary.

The books also take on more and more complex themes: Like the non-magic world, the wizarding community has its prejudice -- expressed not in terms of skin pigmentation but of magical parentage (Witches and wizards who come from Muggle families are termed "Mudbloods" by pure-blooded magic users). What better way to introduce children to the concept of prejudice, and in a way that makes abundantly clear that it is wrong and inexcusable?

Some of the moral issues explored by Harry and his peers are still being wrestled with by adults. From Book 3, "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," one such moral dilemma comes to mind -- When are extreme punishments appropriate, and for what crimes?

Something is noticeably different in No. 4 in comparison with the three previous books -- for some reason, the American publishers decided to leave all the British slang intact. Generally, I was able to deduce the meaning through context, but if you find this difficult, a query on "British English" turned up several dictionaries of British slang available through Amazon.com.

"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" marks a midway point in the entire series, planned to be seven volumes altogether. The book also introduces themes that will carry over in a successive volume or volumes. J.K. Rowling has handled this well, creating a book that concludes the year's episode neatly but that raises compelling issues that this reader is eagerly awaiting further developments in.

As I have said before, I do not feel Ms. Rowling's books promote the occult. The fantastic circumstances of being witches and wizards are there, but the good characters really do embody many positive traits of humanity. These are still children, however, and they have the flaws and preoccupations that children of their age have naturally. Whatever the age of the reader, these books have a great deal to offer, and I strongly recommend them.

Summary: the best book ever!
Review: Harry Potter has always been my favorite. It is the best book of the century. Once you start reading it, you can't put it down. There is not one part of the book that is not exciting. Harry is great. He makes so much sense. It just all comes alive in your head. sometimes you don't know if your reading it, or in it. The Harry Potter books will entertain people for as long as they are out.

Summary: One Word: WOW!
Review: This book was a wonderful experience to read, form beginning to end. Like all the others, it failed to disappoint me despite being a sequel. I also liked how it has set up a huge conflict, not only between Voldemort and Harry, but throughout the entire Wizard world. I enjoyed the World Cup, but wish it would have been a bigger presence in the book being that it won't occur again until Harry's out of Hogwarts. The one thing I thought lacked in this book is an amazing trip like the one the reader goes through in the end of Azkaban (if you haven't read it, hold on to you seats, you're in for a ride!). However, I don't know what I'm complaining about, this is another great book and wish I could fast forward to July so I can read Book 5.

Summary: Harry Potter4
Review: This is a pretty fun book. This new teacher for dark magic called "mad eyed moody" comes to hogwarts. The first time he uses magic is when Malfoy picks on Harry. Anyway, it was a fun book.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Review: I am 42 years old. I kept seeing the Harry Potter books being reviewed everwhere. I wondered what all the fuss was about. Well, during a very busy time at work, I bought the first couple of books and poured through them. It was the best thing I could have done. The imagination of the author allows the reader to place themselves into the book in a vivid land where one would love to experience. These books are full of adventure, humor, and suspense. It is pure joy to read and non stop fun. Plus she captures the emotions of a boy better than anyone could imagine. After finishing the "Goblet of Fire", I wanted more. I may just pick up the first book and start again. Although this book was ment for a children of Harry's age group, it allows grown-ups the feeling of youth.

Summary: Creative
Review: I will tell you know if you liked the other Harry Potter books then I URGE you to get it. But let me warn you it might be kinda scary to some kids who don't like murder and stuff that is considered bad. Some of the words in here are ina propriate and should not be said any where. So I warn you parents if you want to get this book for your child only get it if you don't mind cuss words being added to your childs language.

Summary: The greatest book!
Review: HP and the Goblet of Fire is a GREAT book! Don't be unfazzled by its length! If you're thinking about buying it, just go out to your local bookstore and BUY IT THIS INSTANT! This book is very strong on the things that count most. For example, Ron (Harry's best friend) becomes EXTREMELY jealous of Harry. He thinks that Harry managed to do something that nobody else under 17 could (the Age Line, to all you people who've already read it). But actually Harry didn't; somebody else did it for him without Harry asking them to. Harry didn't even know who or why they did it until the end of the book. Also other stuff, too. But this book is VERY VERY well, written; a MUST-READ for ANYONE! Young, old, whatever! Go buy it right now if you haven't alread!

Summary: Good Grief
Review: There are lots of reviews on this book saying how "anti-Christian" this book is. If you think that way, you don't have to read it. That's all. What about other books about magic? Let's see..... What about "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe?" They have loads of magic and mystery, but no one seems to call them "sacreligious." I think people are just looking for something to complain about. What about how these books "try to push children to join the occult?" No more than "Gone with the Wind" tells us to take up slavery, or "Lord of the Flies" tells us to let our evils out and kill each other. The Harry Potter books are just books that try to strike up the imagination in children that lies dormant, due to the fact that television seems to take up a lot of a child's time. If people would think about it, these books have gotten a lot of children into reading, which is a good thing. If you have a problem with such activities, then don't read the books. It's as simple as that. Or, you can read these wonderful books and let J.K. Rowling share her tales of adventure with you.

Summary: Simply Addictive
Review: Very resourceful imagination is what makes Harry Potter (All parts!)an amazing pleasure to read. Being a very infrequent reader, I have to say that Harry Potter really got me going. The amount of detail with which J K Rowling has created the world of witchcraft and wizardry makes you wonder if it really exists. At the age of 24, I am certain that this kind of imagination is not bound by age. Quidditch, the ministry,You-Know-Who,the triwizard tournament..all of it. Book 4 is yet another masterpiece! Being almost double the size of the previous books, it was still not long enough to satisfy my hunger for more and I, among many other Harry Potter lovers, cannot wait till next July for Book 5.
