Summary: Great plot and charactors, again
Review: Kate Elliott continues to catch my interest after the first book in this series. She provides a compelling cast of charactors and a fascinating world view.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Top Rate Fantasy.
Review: Kate Elliott's creation is a fresh and powerful new world for fantasy lovers to explore. Both "King's Dragon", and "Prince of Dogs" have the captivating power of the finest fantasy epics. High adventure and believable characters can best summarize what is certain to become a must read for all fantasy enthusiasts. Read and enjoy.

Summary: Good book in total but frustrating characters
Review: Kate's writing style is elegant and professional and the characters she has created are very intriguing. If I have any criticism, its the character of Liath. She obviously has a great deal of inner strength and will, has held her own in some brutal physical battles and yet suffers the "deer-in-headlights" syndrome whenever Hugh is around.

Summary: Absolutely terrific
Review: King Henry's bastard son Sanglant is considered dead by most residents of the Kingdoms of Wendar and Varre. However, the PRINC OF DOGS is actually alive, held prisoner by the Eika, Bloodheart. Sanglant, who is immortal, finds his last vestiges of sanity slipping away during his unwelcome stay as the guest of the warlord. The reported death of his son has shook King Henry, who is completing his victory over several rebel lords before engaging in the ultimate battle with Bloodheart.

PRINCE OF DOGS, The second novel in "Crown Of Stars" series, is an action-packed, exciting other world fantasy novel that works because the characters seem so real. Like its predecessor, KING'S DRAGON, (which is coming out in paperback), the captivating story line holds reader attention throughout the novel. Fans of the fantasy genre need to read the two volumes of this well written series for a taste of a realistic fantasy adventure.

Summary: Don't give up now
Review: Not as strong as the first book but still a good read and entracing at some points. A lot of new characters are introduced that may seem irrelevant at this time but you will meet again. With the introduction of more characters it is a little harder to follow but bare with it. It's very much a storyline that links to other areas further down the track. still an enjoyable read, don't give up here there's still a long way to go.

Summary: Fun Pseudo-History
Review: Not bad at all, not the absolute best.

One of the features of this series is its thinly veiled grounding upon 10th/11th c. medieval German culture. A lot of authors borrow from history. Kate Elliott borrows *heavily.* (Elliott's sister is a professor in medieval German court culture at Duke University)Amazingly, it works. Here are some of the obvious parallels - 1) The church 2) Wendar/Varre = Germany/France 3) Eika = Vikings 4) Dariya = Rome 5) Alternate Islamic and Byzantine cultures (names escapes me at the moment.) 6)Mathematici = astrologers (well-researched medieval astrology at that)

7) Lots of minor parallels, down to the names of individual mountains - the Eiger, Moench, and Jungfrau of Switzerland make an appearance.

It isn't in the borrowings, but in the skill in arranging them that makes this book better than most. Aside from taking names, Elliott's writing style creates a medieval, and not a disney/medievalish world.

As a pure read and not a merely a history re-working, it's also pretty solid. Hugh is a truly evil villain ;)

Summary: epic story
Review: Prince of dogs is a great epic story about four main characters that are struggling a through war stricken land that. In this book the author, Kate Elliott does a great job with keeping readers interested because they always wants to hear what will happen. Elliot also does a great job making it a readable book that could be really hard because of many different characters. The reader sees the world through the eyes of four main characters and one minor character. At some times Elliott has a tendency to stretch the book out and this makes it a little boring but it is important to learn about the characters and watch them meet and interact with each other.
This book the second book of the series, is the connection book of the series, Crown of Stars. With out the Prince of Dogs readers would not be able to have any other books of the series. Elliot readers have a view into a whole other would. She uses her knowledge of the medieval times to make this book so believable and realistic. Over all I enjoyed this book and I am still reading the book that continue the series.

Summary: prince of dogs
Review: The book was good, but there are way to many people in this book. Many really interesting story lines. Some very boring story lines. Many story lines that never really turn out to be anything. The book is more enjoyable if you skip the dead end chapters. Good luck this series is all written in this form. Book three was the last for me.

Summary: Still building up
Review: The world Elliot has created is Astonishingly detailed, and you can imagine every scene as the Author probably saw it. The characters are excellent and you really get a feel for the main ones. The main battle at the end was well drawn out. though not much of the story was given away in this book (That's in Burning Stone) the main purpose was for the characters to finds themselfs, and know what they wanted. I really wished that I could write like Elliott, she is a top class writer. The only downside is the religious stuff in it, which can get annoying.

Overall: Excellent world setting, dialouge and characters. Astonishingly detailed, panoramic and highly intelligent and really gets you involved. Downside - Carried away with religion, can slows down in parts quite abit. But the ending really is at an super fast pace.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Better than King's Dragon
Review: This book was amazing. Not only did I read it in one day, but it there was never a moment of boredom. Every page was full of good fantasy.

READ THE SERIES!
