Summary: Mr. Feist writes polictal, economic, and military intrique
Review: Mr. Feist next book Rage of the Demon King continues to tell the story of Roo and Eric in the aspect politica, econimics, and military strategy, as they prepare for a war with no end. He constantly keeps the book surprising and highly detailed. If you were a new reader or a major fan you would not have needed to read any of his previous novels to understand this one. I give Mr. Feist a lot of credit for his wonderful novel.

Summary: Gripping and enjoyable to read. Drifts off main plot line.
Review: This book is very enjoyable to read (I read it in two days), and is exciting and gripping. Although it is long overdue, (did he have a problem with wrapping up the ending?), I was very eager to read it. I do have one major complaint. The story line becomes very convoluted to those of us who found the Rift War Saga one of the best series since Tolkien. Don't get me wrong, I am still a big fan of Fiest but I do have a few critisims. One is that everyone seems to name their kids the same (ie. Arutha, James, etc.)and they don't seem to have fully developed personalities. Two, the whole premise of the plot in the Rift War was negated by blithely explaining that Macros was basically a liar who wanted to become a God. A better avenue to have taken might have been for Macros to admit he didn't fully understand what was going on at the end of the Rift War and the enemies they battled were but pawns of "nameless". I am looking forward to another book to answer some of the questions, Did Pug take the offer? What has changed with Tomas' powers? Does Calis have another part to play? Those of you who have read this will know what I mean, those of you who have not, It won't give anything away

Summary: Compelling series conclusion by one of the industry's best!
Review: In the world of Midkemia things are never as they seem, and the conclusion of the Serpent War Saga by Raymond Feist is no exception. In his newest offering, Rage of a Demon King, is the inferno that started with a spark in Darkness at Sethanon (The Riftwar Saga). Spell-binding and captivating, this book is what Feist fans have been waiting for. The rebirth of a power once thought lost, and the reemergence of an enemy long forgotten. Rage of a Demon King is one of the best of it's genre this year

Summary: Excellent, but is it the end?
Review: I usually take 4 - 5 days to read a book of this size; finished this one in two, and have started again. Excellent, entertaining continuation of the story. Looks like there's still room for one more volume, too... Anyone thinking to read this one without the background of the earlier volumes would be wise to check them out first though. It moves rather fast

Summary: Half Way Through . . .
Review: One of the biggest problems I've had with Feist's "Magician" series is its willingness to embrace the clichés of the genre (orphans rise from obscurity to omnipotence, defeat evil, save the universe, etc.). But Feist's pacing and prose have always carried his works, making the clichés seem more like homages. Unfortunately, Feist's latest installment is starting to lose cohesion. Seventy years have passed since the plot events of the first "Magician" series, but Feist has kept all the best characters alive through "magical" means. Most of the seconds and third generation descendants of the original characters of the first series have the same names and personalities as their ancestors. This seems to make the story seem watered down to me, as if Feist was artificially extending the lives of his characters to great age so he can keep including them in new books. Another gripe with this latest installment is the fact that Feist completely trashes the ending of the first series. Without giving away the details, Feist basically says, "Gee, y'know all that stuff I told you in the first series about why everything was happening and why all the battles were being fought? We'll I lied. . .this is what really was going on all that time. You know all those bad guys that you thought were the most powerful force of evil in the universe? They weren't the --REAL-- bad guys, just a diversion until the true bad guys show up three books later." For example, you know the part of the original series where omnipotent sorcerer "Macros the Black" tells the story of his life and how he came to his power? Feist casually dismisses this history, saying "Gee, Macros was lying, this was his true past and these were the true motives for his actions." I find such disregard for plot continuity disrespectful to the reader, and it has soured me to the story outlined in Feist's second series

Summary: LOVED IT!!
Review: This book is about 1 million times better than "Rise of a Merchent Prince" a book that I little actually dislike but will not re-read agian either.

In this book preety much everything pays off from the first two books we have a lot of conflict on all fronts and while some of it doesn't get wrapped up smothly it all comes to more than a satisfactory conclusion. At a point this book is just one drawn out slugging match with the forces of the Emerald Queen.

Everyone who has possibly even remotly been in a Feist serise of books has a part to play and for the most part this works out really well.

My favorite sequence in the whole book is the conversation between Duke James and the leader of the Thives Guild. This is a book that I will gladly rwead agian.

Overall-Took a while to get going but in the end it packs quite a punch.

Summary: Good enough for me
Review: Being a devoted fan of Feist, I have to admit that I have read all of his books at least 5 times each. Except fairy tale. I only read that once.

Rage of a demon king has only one flaw - it's too complicated for all but the most devoted fan of Feist and much of the inticate plot twists and inter-relationships are completely lost on most readers. Look at most of the other reviews on this book - they complain that demon king left them hanging - but then out of no-where comes shards of a broken crown, invalidating most of the reviews of this book!

I boast that I knew there was a fourth book, and I enjoyed hanging out after demon king every little bit.

feist has set the scene for Krondor and the rest of the kingdom. He has killed off characters, retired characters and invented a set of new ones, Eric, Miranda, Roo, given Calis a life and eventualy puts a new king on the throne. Get ready, its going to start all over again, - mark my words. This time, there will be no Duke James's, Amos Trasks or Macros's to rely on, it's a whole new realm... Maybe Macros will not be dead after all though...

And people, lets not forget the grand scheme of things here! All of these books have been based around a few important facts: The Valheru want to come back, Alma Lodaka's synthetic race of followers, the Pantathians fanaticaly work for the return of Alma via the lifestone, whilst those privy to this knowledge - the royal family and a few trusted others labour to keep the snakes away. Demon King was a plot by the snakes gone wrong - dont forget that, and dont forget the scope of the characters in this book, you have characters from the kings bucanbeer from Novindus in this book, in body though - not soul (Emerald Queen, Nakors ex wife).

This book may be a little elite for the non feist devoted, but as far as I'm concerned, it is brilliant.

Summary: Good climax to an entire setting.
Review: I cant belive anyone who likes feist even a little bit would give this book less than 5 stars! Its the most thrilling and touching book feist has ever written. I read it multible times its so great.
