Rating: Summary: THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION Review: couldn't put it down after my mother put it into my hand . without saying a word she just smiled and walked away, and i've had the pleasure of doing the same thing to about 25 people in the last few years, thanks Ken.
Rating: Summary: Good, fun read Review: i read this book many years ago, and forgot all about it. Them when I remembered something, I could not rememer who wrote it or the title. Glad I did, it was a fun, easy read. You can read above what the story is about. I would LOVE to see the same thing, but going from 2002 back to 1972. Would be cool
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read Review: If you're reading this, you're considering buying Replay. This is a no-brainer. Just order the book. You will be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: One of the best books you will ever read. It will stay with you forever and change the way you think about life. Weird that a "trashy" novel could be so powerful and affecting - but it's true! I re-read it every few years and enjoy it every time.
Rating: Summary: Hands down-Phenomenal! Review: First off, I am a compulsive reader. If you will only read one book in your entire life read REPLAY! It is a completely captivating, entrancing read. It has great character development, an awseome plot, and the ending is to die for. Nothing else needs to be said.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Science Fiction Review: What would you do if you died but became conscious again twenty-five years earlier in your exact body and life circumstances of twenty-five years ago? Would you make use of your memories to place bets? to influence history? to avoid the mistakes you made in your relationships?Imagine a combination of the movies "Groundhog Day" and "What Dreams May Come". That is Ken Grimwood's Replay. This book captivated me. I can't remember the last time I read an entire book at one sitting, but I could not put it down. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys true science fiction.
Rating: Summary: What If I had my life to live over again? Review: -That's a great question, and the book does a great job of asking it. Sympathetic protagonist encounters a tremendous mystery, and while investigating it, discovers the answer to a more important mystery. The book is a quick read, but provides plenty of food for thought.
Rating: Summary: I did little else but read after I started this book Review: Wonderful moving book. I literally did not put the book down until I finished it. This book will be placed on my top shelf along with other favorite books. I was impressed with the managment of the characters interpersonal relationships. Some authors have difficulty presenting a realistic relationship in a linear time line. This author excelled in a very difficult time sequence.
Rating: Summary: If I could live part of my life over again, Review: I would spend the time that it took to read this book reading something else. Pros: Harmless, parts were well written. Cons: Sappy, preachy, and uninteresting.
Rating: Summary: Read this book. You'll be glad you did. Review: First the good news. I love this book. It is the only book of any substantial size that I enjoyed so much that I read it a second time immediately after having read it for the first time. It really is that good. From an analytical point of view I find it hard to justify all of this because the book has its share of flaws (more on that later), but the crux of the story is so compelling and original that all such flaws are at once forgiven. As others have pointed out, this isn't just a generic time-travel story about changing the course of human history or grappling with paradoxes. I don't want to give away any of the plot, but Grimwood's notion of time travel is inspired and he does a great job of portraying Jeff's bittersweet existence. As to the book's weaknesses, my main objection is that at times the characters behave in implausible and irrational ways. In hindsight these illogical actions often serve important duties to the plot, but they are bothersome nonetheless. Additionally, the overall quality of the writing is less than superlative and certain minor plot elements aren't particularly well-integrated into the overall story. As I noted before, however, these weaknesses are worth neglecting because this book is really worth more than the sum of its parts and I believe that even the most critical reader will be glad to have read this book when all is said and done.
