  Summary: pretty good
Review: This is my first bookthat i have read from David Eddings its pretty good but some of it confuses me.At first i didn't think i would like it but its pretty cool.I'm not done reading it yet but im almost finished with it.

 Rating:
  Summary: Excellent
Review: Though David Eddings has one plot and one plot only, his characters and dialogue easily make up for this. An excellent continuation of The Belgariad.

  Summary: Slow pace at beginning...
Review: The Guardians of the West is very good. It has a good plot. IT does add some humor...like when silk or someone said that mandorallen was thinking of going against a whole Tolnedran Legion

 Rating:
Summary: slow moving at first but picks up pace
Review: you find when reading this book that it really does follow on from the last series. i read this one first and i noticed i was missing alot of the history. it starts slow but in the last section picks up alot of pace and you find it hard to put it down for the last 150 pages. it sets the seen well for the series.

Summary: The further adventures of Belgarion.
Review: In the Belgariad we got to see Garion as a boy now we get to see him as a man. In this first book of the Mallorean he and Ce'Nedra have their first child. That interesting episode is just the start of a long and arduous quest that reunites some old friends and introduces some new. This book is a wonderful blend of fantasy and humor. Case in point, Garion's reactions when Ce'Nedra goes into labor. Just thinking about it makes me chuckle. It is a must read for Eddings fans and for new readers it is a great introduction to his work.

Summary: A total insult to The Belgariad
Review: "Gaurdians of the West" is just the beginning
of another "OH GOSH WHAT AN ORIGINAL PLOT A CHILD DISCOVERS HIDDEN POWERS AND
MUST FULFIL AN ANCIENT PROPHECY TO DEFEAT AND ANCIENT EVIL AND
SAVE THE WORLD OH WOW OH MY I THINK I'LL GO AND STICK MY HEAD IN A
CUPBOARD" series! Its a pile of sh*t!

  Summary: VERY SATISFYING
Review: It helps a lot if you have read the "Belgariad" and if you have, you will undoubtly like this book. All the beloved characters are back in another five volumes. As a sequel, it is as good as it gets, but it's still a sequel. If you love original fantasy, skip this one. If you love Garion, Belgarath, Polgara, etc., buy it!
This is a very plot-heavy book with a lot going on: Battles, travels, wizardry, i.e.: What you expect from a good fantasy book.

  Summary: down to the dregs
Review: This follow-up to the Belgariad only confirms a sneaking suspicion I`ve always had: that the literary profession is a soulless business...or at least, it becomes one as the cash starts flooding in. David Eddings is painfully obvious in his attempt to milk the Belgariad for all it`s worth, taking advantage of the reader`s natural desire to `find out what happens`. Well, for those who haven`t had the dubious pleasure to read the Mallorean yet, I can summarize what happens in a nutshell (or rather, a few sentences) : characters that were reasonably good in the Belgariad are steamrollered flat, dialogue lines I can promise you you`ve heard before are faithfully repeated for the umpteenth time (perhaps to convey the atmosphere of a familiar world where nothing changes - now doesn`t that give you a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling?); a plot that would have made a excellent novella is ruthlessly stretched to a length of five volumes ( I could almost imagine the poor manuscript strapped on a rack, groaning), and when it does finally end, you may be in for a surprise: you predicted the ending! Incredible...maybe you`ve started to think like David Eddings!!! (And heaven save you if you have - his seven gods certainly won`t

Summary: Excellent follow-up to the Belgriad series!
Review: The book expands on the adventures of Garion, Silk, Polgara, et al. As is Edding's usual style, the book is well written and extremely readable. It picks up the tale, immediately after Garion's wedding and begins another 5 book set into Eddings' fantasy world.
Highly recommended.

Summary: Good book but not the best
Review: The guardians of the west is a good book but i wouldn't compare it to the books in the Belgariad. It is more or less a repeat of the Belgariad with differant bells and whistles. I would recomend reading this book, but read the Belgarid series first.
