Summary: spellbinding literary genius bound into 2/3rds of a trilogy
Review: Melanie Rawn's series is absolutely one of the most excellent I have had the pleasure to read. When will Captal's Tower come out? I've been waiting for almost two years!

  Summary: Torture
Review: I've read the first 2 books to the Exiles series in 4 days, but that is sort of unusual for a 12 yr old... But that was because it was a "Can't put down" What happens to poor Sarra? What will happen with the twins? Taigan will surely get into more trouble in the next book.. Geeze!!!! I need the 3rd one Sooooo bad!!! One book and I've fallen in Love with Melanie Rawn's writing!!!! Anyone know when The Captal's Tower is coming out?

Summary: Fantastic couldn't put it down
Review: Ruins of Ambrai is wonderful. However, it is confusing in the beginning with all the different characters, but once you get past that it just flies by. There are many interesting scenes in this book which I won't give away. The storyline is cool and it just kept me wanting to know more.

Summary: This book was so cool!
Review: My friend Caitlin recommended it to me, and she usually recommends weird books, so I was skeptical. Then she finally talked me into reading it and I was hooked! I couldn't put it down! This is a must-read for everyone over the age of eleven!

Summary: It's a good book. It's got it all.
Review: This book had everything, romance, polotics, diversity, problems, magic, and, though it pains me to say it, deaths. Even though some of my more liked characters ended up meeting their dooms here, everything turned out OK. There was of course the classic thing in romance, where the two main characters hate eachother in the begining, then fall head-over-heels in love with eachother! :) The polotics in this book really intriged me, it was like a complete reversal of our socity. Women in charge instead of men, women land-owners, business owners. The men in to book were treated like women today, with repect most of the time, but they had to raise the kids, and if they didn't want to, they had to scrape along to get anywhere in the world! They had to claw their way into any position of power! I found that a nice change from some of her other books! I kind of thought the second book in the series sucked, so don't read it...

  Summary: An absolute must have!
Review: I have read this book more than five times. I just never get tired of it. The characters are so well developed -- while you are reading it you feel as if you know them. I have also read Vol. 2,_The Mageborn Traitor_, and I definetely wasn't disappointed. You once again connect with the characters. You laugh, you cry... A great read! (Also, the third volume is coming out November of '99!)

  Summary: A great series
Review: I really enjoyed the series the Exiles and have read both the books in the series. The whole plot keeps you in suspense and you want to continue to read it as much as you can. The only problem is that you have to wait so long between them I want to read the last one and you have to wait till 2000 to get it. All in all I think that if you enjoy fantasy than these are books that you should read

  Summary: A Definite Must-Read!!
Review: This is my first Melanie Rawn book. It took me several chapters to get into the book but after that it had me literally spell-bound till the "end"; and I'm dying to read the second in the series. If you have any interest in fantasy at all this is a must read. It will have you crying, laughing, and on the seat of your chair dying with suspense over what will happen next.

Summary: Magical feminist fantasy at its riveting best!
Review: The first volume of Melanie Rawn's fantasy trilogy "Exiles," The Ruins of Ambrai, is an intoxicating blend of family history, arcane magic, politics, and the classic battle of Good Versus Evil. Rawn portrays, in painstaking detail, the political and magical forces wielded by three powerful Mageborn sisters in the matriarchal society of the planet Lenfell. She has a great gift for character development, something occasionally lacking in other books of this genre. I highly recommend this novel--and all others by Ms. Rawn--to anyone who doesn't want to be able to put the book down!
