Summary: i too loved this book so when we find out what happens next?
Review: i read this book in one sitting i loved the story and the characters.i cant wait to find out if ms. kerner will write a sequel. i want to find out what happens to the lost dragons.i have been looking for alternative authors since my favorite ones take too long to write their sequels(i read too fast). laenan and the dragons deserve a second book! we need to find her mother and save the rest of the dragons.

Summary: Flash: Fantasy author tells great story in just one book!
Review: I have been reading way too much Robert Jordan, because I was absolutely amazed at the pace Elizabeth Kerner maintains while still telling a detailed and multilayered story. And what a refreshing change this was. I think I would happily dive into another book or two of the adventures of Lanen, Akhor (Varien), the Kantri, the Gedri, and various demon interferences. Most impressive are the lyrical and moving exchanges between Lanen and Akhor as they realize the depth and transcendance of their feelings for each other. Yet, this is not just a love story....it is good vs. evil, old vs. new, "us" vs. "them". And the story is not such a fairy tale that all these conflicts are neatly resolved - just as in "real" life, its complicated and messy. Lanen is a true hero, and thank the Lady Shia she's no supermodel! Kudos to Elizabeth Kerner (and to whatever talented individual did the spectacular and evocative cover art!)

Summary: OK for a beginner
Review: An interesting book. True, it does provide a fresh perspective on the human-dragon story; and Lanen is an intriguing character. But I found this book a bit too quixotic and flat for my taste. It succumbs too often to the ever-present temptation of any author, a desire for things to be ideal. It needs a few more flaws. The multiple-first-person narrators are very confusing, particularly in high-action sequences when the switches between them come every few paragraphs. And I found the ending of this book fairly disappointing and a bit contrived.

_Song in the Silence_ is a good book for killing time, but don't expect too much.

Summary: Pretty good! So when's the sequel?!
Review: I read it all through the same day, which I don't usually do for books that long. Good book, especially for a first novel. I thought the multiple first-person viewpoints were interesting...certainly not "vexing"...Like everyone else, I like the dragons. I was disappointed at the fact that it didn't get up to saving the Lost, but I suppose there really wasn't enough room. Well worth reading.

Summary: Excellent Novel - I'll be waiting for a sequel or two?
Review: The only problem with this book is I had trouble putting it down. I normally have trouble keeping up with books that are done so completely in first person. Song in the Silence is a fantastic exception! Elizabeth Kerner writes this tale beautifully and captures my interest totally. The characters are identifiable and individual. A touching and moving tale that is made believable in style. The best (and worst) of thinking being characteristics are portrayed well in both the human (Gedri) and dragon (Kantri) personalities. I'll be impatiently awaiting the sequel and pray that there will be one.

Summary: A must read
Review: I went through the book in a few days. I was intriged with the mind of Lanen. It left me in a haze I couldn't put it down. I even laughed out loud once.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Dull, dull, dull
Review: This book was SO boring I could not even finish it, and I am the mother of a young child who is starved for input. Lanen Kaelar is a virtuous lump and her dragon friend is too, although his coloring seems more interesting. And who cares if they defeat evil or not? Derivative, dull, not worth your time.

Summary: Truely Captivating
Review: Although the ending seemed a little too convenient it was overall a wonderful book. I have to agree that it seemed very similar to Lackey's works, but since I am a huge fan of hers, thats no bad thing.... I look forward to reading about the future of these two heros with great anticipation. Keep up the great work Ms. Kerner!!

Summary: Great book!!!!
Review: I loved Akhor and Lanen, they were so beautiful together! It was a great book! I read it almost every day. I love reading about dragons, but this is indefinitely the ultimate best! I can't wait for sequels!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Imaginative, innovative and entertaining
Review: Elizabeth Kerner has created a masterpiece of originality filled with wit, humor, love and a dash of philosophy we can all use. She concentrates on resolving differences, celebrating life and the power of love even between a Kantri and a Gedri, a dragon and a human. "A Song in the Silence" is a wonderful book that is garanteed to be revisited and re-read over and over. I'm looking forward to Elizabeth's next books with great anticipation!
