Rating: Summary: No "Choice" Required....the BEST! Review: Prequel to the fantastic previously published LIADEN UNIVERSE books, these two novellas are paradoxes of intense satisfaction (wonderfully deep characters, exciting plots, clever and witty dialogue that doesn't steal from the action, and the pervasive atmosphere of personal integrity and the conviction that one person makes a difference) and bitter frustration (What? That's ALL? That's the end of the book? NO! MORE! MORE!). The kind of writing that, when you reach the end, makes flipping back to the beginning to start over a matter of course....spend your lunch money on this one.
Rating: Summary: The Liaden Universe Review: Steve Miller and Sharon Lee have been telling each other and the rest of us stories about the strange human race called Liaden, and their interactions with our kind of human for over 20 years now, barring a long hiatus during which a host of publishers had the incredibly ignorant opinion that there were no Miller/Lee fans. The story of the Liadens gets better and more varied and rich with every new book. Buy this book. Read this book. Then read it again. Bet you have to read it at least three times.
Rating: Summary: Two love stories... Review: Talk about heart-breaking romance! Particularly with Shan's parents. To know the origins of this remarkable man, to see how his parents, Anne Davis - a very tall Terran - and Er Thom yos'Galan, who was notorious for his sterness and compassion and stubborness. Truly a love meant to be.Val Con's parents, on the other hand, was probably the most interesting read. So much anger and revenge and love and respect. Not to mentionmelan'ti! Daav yos' Phellum is a lonely, mysterious man. As Thodelm and holder of the Clan Ring, he is homeworld bound and bored and worried he will not find the right mate. He decides to lead a double life and return a few days out of the week to Benjali's, a shipyard and storage place where Scouts and former colleagues fly out. There he meets an intriguing creature, Aelliana, who has just won a ship from a notorious gambler. She is also a respected mathmetician. She wants to learn to fly in order to escape a horrible home life. An interesting look at traditional courting and how love can be a great motivator!
Rating: Summary: The Best Yet! Review: The first of Lee & Miller's books that I read was "Conflict of Honors". After that, I haunted the bookstores until I had obtained "Agent of Change" and "Carpe Diem". Alas, no more books were forthcoming. Of all the hundreds of books I have collected over the years, these were the ones most frequently re-read. Now that the Liaden universe is again available, we can again enjoy the rich environment and thoroughly enjoyable characters that peaple these books. Pilot's Choice gives us two stories that give a real fleshing out of the series. When you consider that these were written without firm hope of publication, they are all the more remarkable. In my humble ( but emphatic ) opinion, these are the best of Lee & Miller's work to date. Considering that they were already at the top of my list, that is simply amazing.

Rating: Summary: Another Marvelous Addition to the Liaden Universe Review: There aren't really that many books that I like so much that I want everyone to read them - but all of the books Miller and Lee have written are in that category. They are magical, pulling the reader into an incredibly rich universe, marvelously developed characters and intricate plots. I honestly can't say enough about these books, except that I'll be buying extra copies of Partners in Necessity, Plan B and Pilot's Choice very soon so that I can loan them out while still keeping my copies constantly available for me.
Rating: Summary: Two Romances In One Review: These two novels are stand-alone back stories to the Agent Of Change novels (Partners In Necessity, Plan B, I Dare). While those novels are high space opera, these are setpiece romances. The first is a comedy of manners, with the lovers separated by birth, circumstance, disapproving family, misunderstanding, etc. Fairly well executed, with interesting characters. The second novel is more of an adventure. It features the traditional prince in disguise who rescues the beautiful and talented but poor and abused heroine. I believe that the authors had a better feel for the second set of characters than they did for those in the first novel. The first one is really more about the courtship ritual than about the characters themselves. The second novel focuses on more heroic characters who experience a more exciting story. Fair warning: both novels follow romantic traditions which include the female character being at a social and emotional disadvantage when compared to the male character (though neither female character is weak or stupid).
Rating: Summary: ONLY READ WHEN YOU CAN FINISH ALL AT ONCE Review: They did it again.Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's books are not so much stories as addictions.I read the first book at one sitting and would have finished it except I had to get some sleep to be able to go to work.As it happens I was kept up so long I overslept any way.Such are the stories they write that you are hard pressed to put the book down, hence the title of the review. WARNING IF YOU PICK THIS BOOK UP YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN TIL YOU ARE DONE REGARDLESS OF WORK,SLEEP OR EVEN BATHROOM BREAKS. If you haven't read the other books in the Liadan Universe what are you waiting for you will not find any better books .You will find everything you can want ACTION, ROMANCE ,SPACE OPERA ,HUMOR,& EVERYTHING ELSE YOU COULD EVER WANT
Rating: Summary: Amazing Danged Stuff. Review: This is a really, really, really amazing novel. That's all there is to it. If you're fond of romantic sci-fi, this is a book not to miss. The plotline is quick and interesting, and the characters themselves are captivating people. Lee and Miller's writing is as always, superb, and this is yet another great Meisha Merlin title. Not only is the story itself amazing, but heck, the quality of the book itself is great. It's well bound, and well made, a book that's going to last for years and years. Which is a danged good thing, as many times as I intend to re-read it.
Rating: Summary: You have to read this!!!!!!!!! Review: This is not a five star book. This is worth about five thousand stars. There aren't enough stars in the sky for this book. I'm not exaggerating. Everybody should read it. My friend swore she'd never read the Liaden books, so I blackmailed her into reading this one. Now she's as obsessed as I am, and I am really, really, obsessed with these books. These are the best books you'll ever see, and I've never said that about any other series. Give them a try. You won't regret it.
