Rating: Summary: Sci-fi at it's best! Review: I'd read a brief review in a local paper and thought I'd give this book a try. I'd never heard of the author and didn't know what to expect. This book grabs hold of you and won't let you go! It is a fantastic blend of sci-fi, fantasy, romance, adventure and drama. It takes theories of people like Erich von Daniken and Zechariah Sitchin and weaves them into a truly believable story that spans vast oceans of space and time. The book is full of characters you love, and others you love to hate. Heroes, villains, aliens, Pharoahs and ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses all combine with very imaginative and completely believable science fiction into an amazing saga. I'm waiting to see this one made into a movie or a TV series. Pruit is a great heroine. Watch out Lara Croft, here comes Pruit Pax!

Rating: Summary: Revel in Resurrection Review: It is a rare story that keeps one awake reading all night. Dayton lures us into a world that is so skillfully based on truth that it could easily be real, that moves so quickly and intelligently that it becomes vital to stay alert and, alas, hungrily turning the pages. With characters that you care about immediately and vivid action sequences, this is one of those books that draws you in and holds you there. One walks about wondering how Pruit is doing and what is happening with the Eschless Funnel... right here, in the real world... hey, it could happen! This book is all at once a grand escape as well as a peak into something much bigger than ourselves. Don't bother making any appointments. It's impossible to put down.
Rating: Summary: To simple. Review: It was a nice subject, but the way it was written was a bit boring. There was much more to make of this theme. Call it a snack, nothing more. I don't no way people give it 5 stars. It's certainly not the best sci-fi there is.
Rating: Summary: Not An Epic Review: Somebody has described RESURRECTION as "not top shelf epic sf". All I can say is that I agree...and thank goodness. Personally, my tolerance for apocalyptic sf "epics" is limited. I'm not looking for the ultimate galactic fate of the human race when I pick up a new book, I just want an entertaining story. That's exactly what I got from RESURRECTION. Not the greatest character development, but I cared about some of them by the end. The plot was sometimes predictable and the ending came together a little too neatly, too. That's why it doesn't get five stars. But it was enjoyable and it held my interest. It isn't DUNE, but it wasn't bad. If you're looking for a new voice in the sf genre, you might give this one a try.
Rating: Summary: Missing Link Review: The Author has certainly learned to better her craft since Sovereign's Hold! While SH had interesting characters and a well thought out convergence of story lines, Resurrection goes deeper by many layers. The characters are fully dimensional and as creatively developed as the fantastic worlds they come from. Conflict, hubris, vanity, revenge, religion, love, and desperation are all included to create characters that we can not only identify with, but the Author also allows us to understand the context of their lives and the motivations that drive them. The concept of independant technological developement is wonderfully well thought out and captivating. The back and forth transitions between the "times" of the story are incredibly well blended and add a richness that one would expect to come from an Author with many more novels under her belt. And finally, the Author's ability to creatively fill in the gaps in the cultural evolution of our own planet makes for a wonderfully captivating story that will end too soon and leave this reader hungry for the sequel (Please!!).
Rating: Summary: Fascinating story Review: The author weaves an action-packed tale following threads 5000 years apart -- in outer space, on Earth in Egypt in the time of the Pharos (including how the pyramids were built), and in present time. What is most amazing to me is how she uses real history and real science as a foundation -- she takes great care to utilize well-researched facts as the jumping off point for her imagination. The result is an enlightened, highly textured, almost photorealistic world. I've already read Resurrection twice!
Rating: Summary: An intelligent but complex science fiction novel Review: The Kinley sends their first faster than the speed of light craft with a live crew to conduct a survey of planet Earth. The ship Champion lands on the planet at what would be local time as 2601 BC. However, while the Champion successfully completes its trip, the feral Lucien attacks and devastates the Kinley, isolating the Champion from its home. Five millenniums later, the Kinley continues the slow process of recovering all they lost during the Lucien debacle. However, the Lucien do not sit idly by and allow their enemy to regain its former foothold and perhaps more. They plan to eradicate the Kinley, only keeping genetic data in case a specimen or two needs development to serve the master race. Now the Kinley has thirty-five years to find a savior and theyÃre only viable hope is a champion from a ship they have not heard a peep from in thousands of years. RESURRECTION is an intelligent but complex science fiction novel filled with action. The story line is faster than the Champion was and reminiscent in many ways of Battlestar Gallactica. The characters are an interesting group, but especially fascinating in a sort of Spock way is Pruit. Arwen Elys Dayton provides genre fans with a strong novel that will send the audience including this reviewer to read her previous tale SOVEREIGN'S HOLD Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Very simplistic Review: This is a fairly enjoyable book, but very predictable and simplistic. It feels like a made-directly-for-TV episode of a popular SF series (pick any you want). All the characters are linear, no depth, no nothing, they feel like taken out of children's books. As for the SF ideas -- the connection with ancient Egypt has been done better (see the Area 51 series), but nevertheless was still enjoyable. Other than that, there's nothing much, except some description of technologies which are not very original and do not go into very much depth. It's actually 2 1/2 stars.
Rating: Summary: Sci Fi working for today Review: This is a well-conceived story that unfolds in a way that kept me struggling-successfully-to keep control of the pieces of the puzzle. Dayton uses the Sci-Fi setting to offer a welcome fresh viewpoint about some of the mysteries of ancient Earth. It is set in a believable interpersonal web, with complex motives and loyalties, and it is easy to become a participant in the unfolding action. More than a fantasy because of its development of a theory about existing things on Earth, the novel will well reward your time and effort. Warmly recommended.
