Summary: What was the deal with the Running bits?
Review: Overall I enjoyed the book - I couldn't put it down. The FAQ's and hints were good and it was fun seeing things you never noticed before. That said... the running bits and some of the other overanalyzed material was annoying. According to the authors JKR had hidden meanings behind every other word she wrote. If this were the case it would have taken her 20 years to write the book.
Another thing was that some very obvious things were pointed out as if they were very deep, which really made me wonder why some of the other ideas they had were totally beyond my realm of understanding.
Anyway, for the most part it was good. Just ignore some of the more outlandish ideas.

Summary: Clues, Clues and more Clues
Review: After having read the Ultimate Unofficial Guide that covered the first 4 books and I felt was very interesting (providing bits of the story and explaining the underlying who what and why as you whent along), I was sure that this would follow suit.

First, know that this does not include the narration that the initial guide did, which, depending on what you're looking for, could be good or bad...

Basically, they go through each chapter, picking out phrases, and relate to things that happened in the previous books, and give very ambiguous clues as to what they're referencing (I'm still trying to figure some of them out!).

The 'Rules' and standards that they devised in the first book have been thrown out the window, and there's a whole new set of rules now, which makes things VERY confusing.

It's interesting to see where they go in this collection of clues, and a Die Hard Potter Fan should be challenged by a book like this.

The bonus punch-out laminates in the back of the book are neat too.

The only reason I'm going 4 starts instead of 5 is that I had trouble figuring out what they were referencing in each chapter, even though I had a book in front of me! Give it a shot - this really is a unique way of looking at the series!

Summary: worth it for major fans
Review: First I just have to say one thing: *Galadriel* Waters and Astre *Mithrandir*? Is that for real? Anyways, it's worth it for those of us in desperate need of a Potter fix, but I wouldn't recommend it for casual fans. This leaves you to build your own theories and conclusions, but doesn't guide you through anything, persay. Definitly for the older, more serious fans.

Summary: The Hufflepuff Guide
Review: For those legions of Harry Potter fans, this Hint book will test your devotion to the young wizard and his friends. While Galadriel Waters Ultimate Guide deconstructed the first 4 Harry Potter books chapter by chapter and laid out the clues, hints and subplots for us to read, this hint book is just that: HINTS. The Hufflepuffs among us will be in their glory. Waters does not draw the conclusions that made the first book so popular; rather she and her co-authors plant signposts and clues for the dedicated Harry Potter Sleuth to find answers on their own. Make no mistake: this book is for those who regard reading as a full contact sport. I found myself dusting off long-unread volumes of Mark Twain, Lewis Carroll, Bullfinch's Mythology and my Oxford Unabridged Dictionary. Those Harry Potter fans who want answers spoon-fed to them need NOT apply! If you enjoy digging through books, searching out history, facts and allegory and closely examining the genius of J.K. Rowling, this book is your cup of tea. I kept looking up and finding that 3 hours had suddenly zipped past me! But every time I looked up, I realized more and more how J.K. Rowling truly is the heir to the Inklings. Ms. Waters and her co-authors throw light on these supposed "kids book" and reveal them for the ageless classics they will surely become. Loved it!

Summary: Great Book!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. It is so much fun to figure the clues out on your own instead of having them handed to you. I have a question though, (its probably a stupid one ) what is a running bit? Let me know if you know. roxychick65@hotmail.com

Summary: Poor.
Review: I am a true die hard fan, and i feel that this book lets people down. The first book giving clues about books 1-4, was so helpful. I was so glad that the same author was going to write about book 5. As there was no review available, i had to buy the book first to find out about. Not impressed at all. I know another book is coming out in November, will wait and see the reviews first before i waste more money!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Short and quick analsis. So so in my opinon
Review: I felt that this book did help in some way. The review of each chapter was very short and concise. It did not offer lengthy in depth analysis of each chapter. The information was general and filled with cute bits of information. The book has a funny way of its paper. Its frilled at the ends. I do not know why they did this. I was hoping for more information and more substantional information to read. Overall, I felt that this was a good book with limited information. I thought that the analysis on book 1-4 was much better and filled with more data. The price is not worth the book. I did like the cut out tab of the last page. The book is worth reading but only for short information to read.

Summary: Skills Are Required
Review: I know that some people would much rather wait for Galadriel Waters to explain all these clues she has laid down for us herself, but I found that figuring out the clues was a thousand times more fun. While reading the first guide, I didn't take notes, but I have notebooks full of questions and comments about what the answer to it all could be. There are endless possiblities of ways to go about being a Harry Potter Super Slueth! See for yourself how much fun it can be to attempt to discover how the "septology" will all end. This book truly makes you appreciate what a genius JK Rowling is. We are not talking about any kid book!

Summary: 5 stars-A LOT OF FUN!
Review: I like the fact that this guide is "hints only". I didn't expect a complete analysis like in the first book, and not sure why other reviewers had a problem with that. The authors warn you right upfront about it. I think that's ok...it takes some work but I am having a blast trying to figure out the clues. You have to be up for solving JKR's puzzles yourself, but if you are, this is a really cool book! I'm still working on a lot of the clues, but I can see now what Galadriel was saying about Peter Pettigrew's whereabouts and why Percy has been acting like such a jerk. It was so awesome when I saw that. I'm still working all the other stuff, and I can see that there's lots to keep me engrossed until Harry Potter 6! This book definitely kept my interest and it's a really good deal too, considering it turned out to be really a lot more than I expected. I wouldn't recommend it for casual readers, but I'd say it's a must for us "die-hard" Potter fans!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: GREAT! Gives you the Clues you need to solve the mysteries
Review: I loved Galadriel's 1st book and anxiously awaited the release of "New Clues". I haven't been able to put it down since it arrived..its helping me to decipher the many mysteries of book 5. Keep in mind its hints..not an anaylsis like her first book. But what fun! What incredible insite..I think Galadriel knows JKR! The unique format works well for "Hints"..makes it enjoyable but also easy to go back to find info you previously read. This book is a MUST for the true Harry Potter fan who wants to figure out what really lies ahead!
