Review: I enjoyed reading The Green Book. It was very different in style and imagaination than some of the books I have read before, so it was a nice change of pace. To me, it inspires hope where there is little, seeming that the people have to survive on a planet they know nothing about. This is a cute book and would be a good teaching material for a classroom using science fiction and imagaination to stimulate childrens thoughts.

Summary: Important, underlying theme
Review: I first read The Green Book in fourth grade and finally managed to buy a copy about eight years later. It is a simple but beautiful story that manages to convey the power of family and hope alongside of scientific technology and discovery that anyone can understand. Kids and adults will identify with the excitement and heartbreak of having to leave one's homeland with only a few possessions. The theme of having to leave one's homeland in the first place is full of eagerness, but also sorrow.The descriptions of the planet Shine are perfectly drawn, enough for us to picture it but not overkill. The discovery of the rock people is excellent, reminding the reader of all the strange and wonderful beings that could be out there. And the twist - the gimmick of "the green book" - is perfectly executed, much the way Roald Dahl ends his beloved book The BFG.

Review: I rate this book a *** star book. This is about a girl and family go into a spaceship with some other people to another Solar System because Earth is dying. When they get to the new planet Pattie names it Shine! Read this book to find out what they do on planet Shine and if they can survive on it!

Review: I rate this book a three star book. I rated it this because it could have been longer and it could have had a better ending. The characters are Pattie, Joe, Father, Malcolm, Guide, Sarah, Jason, and Jasons mother. A hand picked group got to go on a space ship to another planet because the earth is dying. They all got to take one book with them. Pattie who was to young to understand what they were doing picked an empty journal and when they needed it to write in they found... To find out what they found read this book!

Review: I read this book for the first time more than ten years ago in a second or third-grade gifted and talented class. It's stayed with me all that time and is without a doubt one of the most formative and definative works of literature I've ever read. I can recommend this without any hesitation at all for any reader of any age.

Review: Jill Patton Walsh has successfully written a book about a book! In this story she traces the journey of a small band of people as they journey to a new planet from a dying planet Earth. However, the most noteworthy piece of this story is how children who read this book learn the importance of journal writing and recording history. The subtlety Walsh uses to weave the almost thoughtless way the travelers selected the books that would be taken on the journey to the surprise revelation of the existence of Pattie's journal as a recorded history of the beginning of their new life on the planet is nothing short of masterful.

She named it "The Shine". The reason why she named it the shine was the grass was like glass and the water was silver. Pattie is the main character of the story. The reason she was the main character was because she named the new planet. She is also the one who found the green book. She is kind, funny, friendly, cheerful, and she is the youngest in her family. The problem in this book was that they had to leave Earth. Another one is that they only had enough gas to get to the new planet. Also, the grass was like glass. They solved the problems by making the best of the new planet. They made it to the new planet. They wore shoes all of the time. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure. Also, I would recommend this if you like to try new things. I wouldn't recommend this book if you don't like trying new things.

Review: This is an excellent book! You'll love to read it! It is such an original book. It is a book about a book! It never tells you what is happening to Earth. You never know what is going to happen next. Everytime the adults think that the people are going to die, the kids save the day! The kids are the heroes of the story. The author should write a sequel.
