Rating: Summary: Who's the Real Kobe Bryant? Review: This book is an excellent read and it seems to show two sides to Kobe Bryant and I'm still trying to figure out which one is the real one. The writer tells two stories. One is the guy we all know and love. The other is someone we've never even seen or imagined. This book makes for an interesting update in the middle of the trial, but I think I'll reserve my final opinion for when there's a verdict.
Rating: Summary: 100% ACCURATE REPORTING! Review: This book is the only book written about the Bryant case and although it came out several months before the case files were released, it's held up very well. All of the bombshells that the authors released earlier this year -- information about other alleged victims, the police interview and what actually happened in the hotel room is all coming out in the files that the Eagle County District Attorney is now releasing. When the book first came out, there was a lot of skepticism about whether or not the book was accurate because the public had nothing to go on. The trial had not happened and the only information available was getting released slowly to the tabloids and cable news shows. But since the files became public information and certain Eagle prosecutors have spoken to the press, it's very clear that The Game of His Life was right on -- the only complaint I have is that it could have focused more on Kobe's life as a young professional athelete from the time of his childhood. There's a lot of great stuff from Philly the author doesn't cover, but he does handle his career with the Lakers nicely. All in all, it's a kick ass read!

Rating: Summary: Why is Shaq Testifying Against Kobe Bryant? Review: This book may be the answer - according to the authors, this isn't the first time that Kobe's made some strange moves on women. The authors say there are THREE other women who he's had "questionable circumstances" with - one of whom is in Portland, Oregon. The book doesn't say where the other two are, but they're probably in towns where the Lakers have played in the past. The writing is pretty good and entertaining. It' got some hard info and a pretty good history of Kobe's career, his rivalry and even good moments with Shaq. It's gonna be real interesting to see what Shaq AND his wife have to say - she's on the witness list too for the civil suit - now that he's been traded to the Miami Heat. Did the Lakers make the right move by trading Shaq and firing Phil Jackson to keep Kobe on board? We'll find out when they play the Heat soon. In the meantime, it'll be even more interesting to see how the two match up under oath in a courtroom! This book is a pretty good read for people who are interested in the NBA and want to know more about what's happening in the case.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME BOOK!!! Review: This book was fascinating. . . about soccer and other interesting events that had no purpose. I thought it would be about Kobe, but I felt like I was reading about motorcycles along with a college LAW book. Definitely would recommend it if you are into books that SURPRISE you.
Rating: Summary: Epic Review: This book was very well written. It seemed to achieve the perfect balance between the technical and non-technical aspects of the subject. I also found the review problems at the end of each chapter challenging but do-able. Shapiro does a fantastic job explaining the physics and metaphysics of basketball, and I especially liked the quotation of Spock from Star Trek II Wrath of Khan: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...or the one." (p. 23) All 168 pages of this paperback are well worth reading. The fact that this book has a free super saving shipping option was the icing on the cake. awesome.
Rating: Summary: An NBA Tragedy Comes to Life Review: This is an excellent summary of what's happened in Kobe's tragic life out in Colorado and it offers a little bit of insight about what really happens in hotel rooms around the country after game-night. The authors say there are three other women that Kobe came on to in other hotels and talks about how others players even hire professionals from time to time. I have a couple of friends who hang out with some execs in the association and apprently this stuff is much more widespread that you would think. This book should definitely make other players think twice before inviting a random woman into their hotel rooms and their lives. It's pretty hard for me not to feel sorry for Kobe at this point, but if the girls story is true as written in the book, it's pretty hard not to feel some disappointment as well. Definitely a great read and it only took me a few hours. Highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: Another N****R Excuse Book! Review: This is so much crap put out to get sympathy after yet another crime by a black man. Stop making excuses you phony.
Rating: Summary: Riveting Work of Art Review: This tantalizing love story is so very sensual and risque, that it was hard to put down let alone forget. Ever since I put down the book, I cannot stop drawing parallels between the love live of Kobe and Vanessa and my own love life with an avid sportsfan. In fact, not only is the content of the book uplifting and inspiring, I had the book modge podged and put onto my coffee table. Thank you Jeffrey Scott Shapiro for this work of art!!!
Rating: Summary: The Game Of His Life Review: Though I feel the author portrayed Kobe's career success in a fair light, I don't think he gives Kobe the benefit of the doubt in this rape trial. It leaves some questions in my mind. If this young woman didn't want anything to happen then why did she go to his hotel room after she got off work? I'm not saying she's automatically guilty simply because she chased a successful famous NBA star to his hotel room, but I am saying that if it is not fair to assume she is a small town girl looking for attention, who just happens to have a large imagination, then it also isn't fair to assume that Kobe (and the rest of the NBA) are a bunch of wild animals driven by their raging hormones. All I'm saying is give him a chance, no one has ever accused him of this before. And though that doesn't make him incapable of commiting this crime, it also doesn't mean that he was just a bad guy waiting to explode. As of right now, he is only guilty of infidelity...no one can truthfully or factually say otherwise. This author claims to have the "real" story and that is not the truth. He wasn't in the room that night, and if he has interviewed the ALLEGED victim, she could be lieing, after all isn't that the defense attorneys whole case? That she has a motive to outright lie about what happened that night? Let's not jump the gun, no one knows for sure what happened. He deserves a fair trial as well as anyone else!
Rating: Summary: OUTRAGEOUS! Review: Wow! Jeffrey Scott Shapiro sure knows how to write! I mean, never before have I come across a guide to political economy that better explains international monetary relations. I especially enjoyed the section on David Ricardo's theory of comparative advantage, and respected the care invested in outlining the nuances of the Heckscher-Ohlin theorem. While the author seemed overly concerned about the influence of MNCs and BITs on LDCs, he arrives at a welcomed conclusion advocating increased regulation of FDI. Rock on! I reccomend this book to anyone who really wants to see the facts presented in a professional manner! Enjoy!
