Summary: And Then Don Wade Told Brian
Review: This collection of golf stories that is told through the eyes of Don Wade is phenomenal. It illustrates the true essence of the game of golf with the use of humorous and heart wrenching stories. This composite speaks volumes for the importance of this wonderful game. Wade accomplishes a brilliant feet in bringing to life golfing legends from the past and personalizing them with the professionals of today. He sets every story apart from the next with its own unique qualities. Furthermore, even if one is unfamiliar with the game of golf, this book is still relevant to them. Some entrees contain lessons of golf that parallel lessons one should be exposed to in life. Therefore, Wade not only writes about the stories of golf, but also he depicts the lessons of life. Within these lessons of life, Wade presents to us many people. These characters are role models for us to live by because of the characteristics they show not the sport they play. Many of today's athletes have shied away from the responsibility of being a role model; however, the gentlemen of golf have not. They embrace this challenge similarly to those of the past and hopefully in some relation to those of the future. By taking this challenge seriously and embracing it, the golfers of today, shown by Wade, are ready and prepared to lead the world into the twenty first century. Perhaps the most important message or lesson Wade is trying to relay to us is to follow our dreams. He tells us that no matter how tough it is to do, we must persevere. We must show determination, endurance, and even experience some obstacles to fully reach our goals in life. Wade knows that in order to reach our most prize possession, we must stumble and fail. He tells us this in many of his accounts about golf. This great golf editor knows that golf is a great mimic of the obstacles of life. He knows that golf is truly the microcosim of golf; therefore, he writes about it in this collection to inspire us. By learning from the greatest men in professional golf, we can realize the hard work and perseverance it takes to succeed in the world. In conclusion, I recommend Don Wade's "And Then Freddie Told Tiger" not because of its slap stick humor but more importantly because of its teachings about life.
