  Summary: Unscientific...
Review: this is not a book for men...that is the first thing any man should know when considering this book. Also, it is a 'damned the science' "common' sense mentality where the gains in sports nutrition and training are thrown out...a real shame.

  Summary: Very good for beginners.
Review: This is one of the better and more comprehensive books for beginners. The illustrations are clear and the advice is sound. The author does review some supplements but generally dismisses them as unnecessary (which is my own perspective as well). If you've gone past the basic stage, you can skip this one.

  Summary: Excellent!
Review: This is one of the better weight training books on the market. It cuts through the multitude of muscle building "garbage" and gives the real scoop. The section on supplements is excellent since most of them are a waste of money anyway. A healthy well balanced diet combined with adequate rest and the exercise routines in this book will give great results. Books like this bring some sanity to the weight lifting world.

  Summary: Great for beginners
Review: Very good introduction to weight training. If you already work out with weights regularly, the amount of new information in it might not justify the price. Of particular help is the section on putting together excercise routines, showing several ays of designing a total body workout using different excercises for the same muscle groups.

Summary: Glad I invested in buying this book
Review: What a great book for the novice who knows nothing much about weight training. I had all my questions answered in this book. I like the huge variety of exercises, and especially that they gave you easier versions of the same exercise so you can start off gently. Get this book. You will be glad. Got a question? It's found somewhere in this book. I am so glad I got this book. If you're a woman also get Smart Girls Do Dumbbels by Judith Sherman-Wolin. That book is loaded with dumbbell exercise.
