Rating: Summary: A Cruiser's Engine Atlas Review: This book provides the reader with a broad overview of most of the basic problems that can occur and offers simple solutions. I have recommended/loaned my copy of this book to several Diesel sailboat owners. The all remarked on how simple their repair was according to the book and how it save them $$.
I do find the book is a little lacking in coverage of large powerboat diesels, but the concepts seem applicable.
Rating: Summary: concise book on repair, maintenance and troublesooting Review: This is an EXCELLANT book! Very to-the-point. There are lot of pictures (more of volvo than of other makes). Easy to follow maintenance insructions. Helpful hints on major maintnenace - enough for anyone who knows a little about engines and is mechanically inclined to easily remove and check out cylinder heads, manifolds, injection systems etc.
Rating: Summary: Don't Leave The Dock Without it Review: With this book aboard plus Peter Compton's "Marine Diesel Engines" and your engine manual you can cruise with an easy mind. The first two books explain all aspects of diesel function as well as define any problem you may have, with diagrams, explanations, and tips to cope. Calder also has photographs. The engine manual shows you how this relates to your particular engine.
