Summary: Tales of the Gypsy in all of Us
Review: Maybe you've never held a tiller in your hand. Nevermind, for Tales of a Sea Gypsy is not just for sailors. Carrying on the tradition of Mark Twain and Will Rodgers, Ray Jason is a story teller whose surprisingly witty stories capture the human experience. This book is perfect for creating a time outa mind, a brief respite from our hectic world. The setting may seem remote to urban readers like me, yet his direct prose has a way of placing me in the cockpit of a sea-going vessel with many an unexpected port on the horizon. Because his stories are brief, I know that I am only a few pages away from the next dockage at the laughter barge. If you've tried astral projection (like I have) and failed, I suggest that you instead steer by the stars and pick up this little supernova.

Summary: Hilarious Adventures
Review: Prepare to laugh out loud! Ray Jason's incredible ability to recount a story will keep you in stitches. One of my favorite lines: "This meant that their ability steer 'Running Free' was dropping like a sumo skydiver." I may never personally see the view of the vast ocean from a sailboat, but I can imagine what it must be like after reading these extraordinary vignettes. This author keeps you giggling at the edge of your seat unable to put it down until you reach the punch-line finale.

Summary: Playful Approach to Life
Review: Ray has a way of filtering life's adventures - even the harrowing ones - through his funnybone. His playful approach to sailing, and to life in general, unfolds in these tales. Each one will make you laugh "at" and "with" life. If it is true that "laughter is the best medicine," one tale a day will keep the doctor away!

Review: Ray Jason has given us a taste of the life of a Sea Gypsy and he has done it in a humorous manner. Tales of a Sea Gypsy is entertaining and a book you will enjoy with each passing chapter where Jason reveals the trials and experiences of friends and cruising sailors he has met over the years. It is a book to make you smile, laugh, and in the end you will put it in your library as a reminder of why we go to sea.

Summary: Sail On, Smile On...
Review: Ray Jayson's hillarious tales from his seagoing adventures are the perfect cure for the landlubber blues. Leave your armchair behind and sail with Ray in his 29-foot sailboat "Adventura" to exotic ports like Costa Rica, Panama, and Hanalei. His tales are spun with such attention to detail that you feel the tension of the life line on your back as salty ocean spits on your face. With Ray Jason as your captain, there's never a dull moment. Only a seasoned sea gypsy could tell stories like this and make you believe that they actually happened.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a love of life and a spirit for adventure. Ray Jason's passion for sailing and the cruising life is definitely contagious! I'm not a seasoned sailor, but this book has given even me the urge to try crossing the Panama Canal! Of course, it's a perfect gift for any sailing enthusiast. If you're lucky enough to see Ray juggling at Mallory Square in Key West, bring a copy for him to autograph!

Summary: A How-To Book for Potential Free Spirits
Review: Say you're stuck in your little life and need the proper kick in the pants to do something different and wonderful. This book is all about someone who can show you the way. Ray Jason used his political science degree to its fullest by becoming San Francisco's first street juggler...then progressed up the ladder to success by becoming a world traveling, single-handed sailor (well, mostly single-handed). Ray Jason shows you what the day-to-day life of a full-fledged bon vivant and international drifter is like.

At times absolutely hilarious...other times white-knuckled gripping. He has a fresh approach to writing and nerve up to here! Great book to buy for your sailing pals.
