Summary: Michael 's The Man
Review: Combination of magazine articles for lovers of fine shotguns.

Basic information about guns, loads, and especially good section on shooting techniques. Jack O'Conner wrote a lot about rifles, but McIntosh's speciality is the sxs shotgun. However, he has taken over the position that O'Conner once held.

You are what you read, and for the last several years I have been reading Michael's work in "Sporting Classics". I have been mainly a rifle guy for the past 25 years, but have now started back with shotguns. I blame Michael for this.

Not really anything new in this book; just more McIntosh. But in his case, more is better. I especially like his lead-ins to the chapters. Classy!! Classy guy !!

Summary: Among the Finest Out There
Review: I absolutely loved this book ! It interested me in the subject of fine shotguns and now I am hooked. This author conveys a great deal of informations about shotguns and shooting, but the reason I will re-read it time and again is that you can sense his deep passion for the subject. That enthusiasm is contagious. I am definitely ordering its sequel.

Summary: All you ever wanted to know about shotguns but were.........
Review: Michael McIntosh is rapidly becoming an Emeritus Professor of Shotguns. "Shotguns & Shooting" is a collection of previously published articles on technical aspects of shotguns and shooting. The book easily talks readers through a miriade of technials details from chokes to trigger pull weights, from shots size to home loads. If you own a shotgun, you will enjoy this book.

For wingshooters - take a look at McIntoshes chapter on shooting technique, he has some simple but effective footwork advice. On a sporting layout I went from regular 18/25 to 22/25 in three weeks of practice.

Summary: All the info - half the technica
Review: Packed with information; easy to read, but not too dense. I've read Burrard (Modern Shotgun), and this book gets across much of the information (though not all) with much less technical material. Still, a few well placed charts etc. aid in understanding. So good, I have it on my shelf to read again in a couple months. As with everything by McIntosh or Hill, the writing is superb. Gene Hill will be sorely missed
